Why our education system sucks!

Posted: Oct 20, 2007 Sat 04:18 am     Views: 187    Interacts: 0

I am a product of a top business school of Karachi.

A business school that is surviving only (and ONLY) on the glories of its past achievements and the fact that most of its alumni are doing well (both in business and politics).

Currently, this business school has decided to abandon the 'school' and focus on business only. The entry test that boasted of selecting the 'cream' of the country, now selects everyone except the cream. Why? Two reasons:
1. The cream mostly goes to a 'true' business SCHOOL in Lahore.
2. There is very little cream. Little cream means few students. Few students means less revenues. Less revenues means less money to waste and steal.

Sigh!

There is another business school where I teach.

This business school boasts of a state-of-the-art campus. They are a little different from the place where I studied. They have decided to adopt both business and school. You can admit your child in pre-school (they have recently started this), see your child finish school and move into their college (!) and then have your child complete his(er) univ education from there also. Full family solution. Three in one!

The entry test? A formality. They have so many programs that they will admit you in any one of them. They are considerate about your future (and their pockets). They don't compare themselves to the business school in Lahore. Why? they have a long sob story to tell about how that institute had contacts in the govt who helped it. etc. etc.

Sigh!

And this is just the tip of the iceberg!

Just to lower my (and maybe your) BP, let's play a game. Which two business schools am I talking of?
