- Reply to Masadi continued:
They thought that the women and children would be spared. So the men slipped out of the village at dusk. Not one woman was spared, neither were many children. In the morning all the bodies were lined up for the photographers and journalists. Seema Mustafa wrote her piece. Few noticed the three year old with matted hair, dried up tears and a running nose trip over a body. She got up and stared at the photographers. No one picked her up. The men had still not returned. Governments, including that of the Congress, have passed. No justice has been done. And we have forgotten. Yes, I am talking about Nellie.
I would like to thank Tehelka for reminding us about Gujrat. We have been forced to see the pleading faces before death. Shouting "down with Modi" will not help. Privately, we need to deal with our grief and shame once more. We need to do so again and again, even if justice is done some day. We need to remember.
