The Pakistani Renaissance

Posted: Oct 29, 2007 Mon 02:57 pm     Views: 206    Interacts: 2

I have always seen my life's work as a writer whose lifetime is like a pen and paper and after inheriting the history and present of India and Pakistan, my duty was to integrate its many contradictions to write a satisfying chapter. That job may never be completed in my lifetime, yet I feel I must do as much as I can to help prevent the confrontations that can kill this planet and reveal the truth. The secular in Pakistan have a lot in common with the secular in India, except one thing, as a proportion of the population, they may have more power in Pakistan because of Musharraf. Isn't that the oddest factoid? Considering that Pakistan is technically a theocracy, rigidly Muslim, alcohol is banned, passports loudly proclaim religion: Islam...the many contradictions of Pakistan would fill several volumes.... So today, Pakistan is a wannabe-secular country with a theocratic past undergoing a bloody renaissance and this story is the most under reported story in the world because it would challenge many hopefuls' desire and grounds for world dominion, not to mention rigid conclusions about certain communities, people and way of life. Pakistan and India are moving in opposite directions and they are like ships crossing at night in many ways. India is in the rage, age and arms of Ram and cannot seem to stop this obsessive fascination because it has come at an economically successful time.

Sis Saima, may the Good Lord bless you with a long life. I have no doubt you will see the realization of your dreams! Therefore, no need to be pessimistic. The old adage is - the hours look (and only look) the darkest just before the dawn arrives!
