No Mr Musharraf this is not the integrated Army

The saying : “power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely” is applied to Pakistani culture to the fullest; if any body has doubt then he/she watch/ listen to the farewell speech by the retiring general, the agony in his voice was making the fact obvious that he is not at all pleased by the transition from absoluteness to non-absoluteness. The all powerful president is not at all at par with the Army chief holding the post of Head of State.
Well at last the unavoidable happened and now we have the new Chief in Place but my concern is not this issue but the statement made by the out going chief that he is handing over new chief the “integrated Army” . the events in the Waziristan has shown the evidence the troops belonging to the Pashtun areas do not share the views of the military high command, the way they have surrendered to the Taliban is an evidence in itself.
Secondly Mr. Musharraf has also claimed that the Army is the “savior of Pakistan”well the history proves it otherwise the debacle of 71’ was the sole doing of Army high command and prior to that the military intervention in the politics laid the foundation of the separatist tendencies in not only the eastern wing but also in the provinces of Baluchistan and Sind and one must not forget the debacle of Siachen during Zia era.
He also claimed that present Army is professional. This is another wrong perception one could judge that by the life style of the officers indulgence in three Ws (wealth ,wine & women)is on a level that has surpassed Yahya’s era.. so mr musharraf no more bluffing.
