Eid Greetings!

I wish you all a very happy and blessed eid

I personally had a pretty tough time this morning in deciding what to wear. In the end put on jeans and went for eid prayers. It is only when you get there that you realize that while adults are being sermonized to grow up and be counted as good muslims as they sit there thinking about what lays ahead when they reach their work places, the joy of the day really belongs to the children. You should see the clothes they are wearing...adorable tiny shalwar kameezes, and tiny dupattas and other traditional clothes from around the world.

And this is the day when even the sternest of the fathers somehow manages to act all soft. Take Qureshi sahib for example. On a normal day you would find him spanking his boy for romping around on mosque's carpet. But not today. Today I saw him proudly looking at him, as if bragging "thats my boy!"

And eid being on a weekday this year, festivities will mostly have to wait till the weekend. The time when americans will get a week off for eid, like in the rest of the muslim world, is still some years away. Of course if you are an avid watcher of Fox News, you would know that its just around the corner.

In any case, as the imam said today, this is the day when we muslims should make every effort to reach out to our relatives, our neighbors, as well as other muslims in the community...and so I have been preparing the list of muslims I am planning to reach out to this week. Nida is at the top of the list, followed by Sana, Reem, and Hadia. Also, I need to find out the phone number of this girl I eyed during post-prayers brunch.

May Allah Subhanahu wa'taalah accept my efforts...
