New faces – old games – the lectures from another lifetime kick in – no judgments, no biasing – pure & simple, neutral journalism – objectivity – the illusive goal – for long I’ve been in pursuit of it, for long I’ve refrained from using negative objectives with people as corrupt as anything.
Karachi main rozana 20. 25 Afgahn bacha marta hai, ap apna camera lay k sab k peechay bhagain gin ab? He laughed; Un logon ki bastiyan hi ghair khanooni hain, un k ghar girain aur khabristanon pay bulldozars chalain tab bhi ap logon ko takleef hogi.
Itnay bachay mar gaye, itnay zakhmi hain, aur yeh zindagi bhar k liye mazoor.
Koi farq nahi parta, jab yeh log apnay bachon ka khayal nahi rakh saktay to paida kyun kartay hain?
I’m going to quote you on that, said I.
My pleasure said he, mocking, jeering.
Scripts, written, rewritten – you don’t have it on record – but he said that – he didn’t allow the camera in – but he said that – you don’t have proof – but he said that – it’s under mqm
You don’t say much after this.
They said he was right in a way anyways – the basti was illegal
And yeah, they shouldn’t have so many kids
Objectivity – don’t judge – he wasn’t really wrong – it isn’t his department’s job to get them proper housing – it isn’t his department’s job to take care of their kids – it isn’t anybody’s jobs but their own.
I’ve lost the sensitive part along the way – three years more or less and its hard to feel anything but anger – be it the culprit or the victim – the blessed or the cursed – they all evoke the same feelings.
Anger, spite
These people of the slums
Deprived, hungry, lost
And what does one do when the ‘feeling sorry’ part goes away
It’s hard to feel sorry – it’s hard when you see how static they themselves are – its hard when you see how dependent they are – how averse to change.
Nobody took responsibility for you all – yeah so hard luck – hard luck you were born into this – hard luck you don’t have the resources – but the will isn’t a matter of luck is it? The will to change isn’t something you’d be handed over by fate.
I hate knowing they blame us for them.
We aren’t your bane – we weren’t ever – we may help but change, that is not our domain – you work for it, your life is your own to mould.
Those with power
What does one do when there is no awe, no respect
These leaders of my nation
The liar, the backstabber, the greedy bastard & the foul mouthed oaf
These people with no conscience, they who lie & lie again
Who promise & don’t dilver & still have the guts to come forth & act like the Massihas
Ba-ighairat
I’ve become neutral – by harboring the same amount of spite for either end of the spectrum.
