of randomness

listening to o jaan e jaan dono'n jahaa'n..
meri baho'n mein aa bhool ja

such faiz-like sentiments. actually it feels like faiz wrote it (just this line) in his youth with all the freshness of romantic idealism and followed it 15 years down the road with dono'n jahaa'n tery mohabbat mei'n haar key.. wo ja raha hai koi shab-e-gham guzaar key
i don't appreciate "baby i love you" refrain for NRI's though. argh. the curse of globalisation.

oh i wanted to update myself on my anti-social inclinations but i'm enjoying myself just a tad too much with this song. speaking of which (i don't know what)... i finished this h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s book last night, confessions of a shopaholic. Actually it wasn't as hilarious as blonde made out to be but still. blonde got it from our psuedo-intellectual detour to the Lahore bookfair (someone--NOT me--wanted to buy books that would look good on her new bookshelf. ha ha). she was raving about it so much that I decided to give it a go, unfortunately right when i was in smack middle of my "a short history of nearly everything". I'll tell you why I use the term unfortunately. After reading it, the short history, which I was rather enjoying, reads like a quantum physics research paper. No exaggeration.

So the book turned out to be very readable, obviously. It is one of those summer paperbacks which you take to the beach with you. ehem. okay wrong example. it is one of those paperbacks that i can't wait to read during my hour-long commutes. I even thought of bringing it to work yesterday since I was near the end and hence in the middle of the climax. I thought I could sneak off to a quiet room for a smoke and read a few pages on and off. Then I realised how stupid I was acting and I didn't want to become a bookaholic. So I knocked some sense in myself. (Actually the only reason I didn't bring it was because it was borrowed and putting in my purse would ruin the cover. book lover and all). I'm not a shopaholic so I couldn't relate to much of it but I've known such girls.
Bottom line. funny book.
I really should stop calling maru, blonde.
and I'm quite amused by my random impulses to capitalize. hah.
