{"Right or wrong is not the issue. It is the rational issue of Muslims' wanting toi preserve their faith"}
Kaal Bhayya,
Where you obtained your uncanny ability to recognize the essence of discussions is amazing.
As an inquisitive Muslim, I have tried diligently to separate faith from logic and core beliefs from tradition and rituals.
For a 7th century belief system, surrounded by Persian and Roman Christian powers, Islam was a breath of equality, logic, and simplicity. While I was not there, I cannot scientfically prove that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was indeed the designated Last Messenger of God. What I do know is the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and indeed his entire family, did not personally benefit from prophethood. I always look for the "interest" factor and don't find any. In his behavior on earth and his message of love, unity, and equality, he just didn't belong to the 7th century or even to Arabia.
He could not have written the message of the Holy Koran, yet he was the medium through which the message was delivered. The Quraish, who were the principal audience of his message, were a very suspicious people and could not have been easily persuaded to change their ways or beliefs.
In my case, the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the greatest and most convincing logical reason for me to believe in Islam. Yes, I am a Mohammedan. (T)
