A serious examination of the hindu mind; On Animism vs Bedounism

Posted: Mar 27, 2008 Thu 09:21 pm     Views: 115    Interacts: 0

Some of my not so gentle hindu friends on chowk have often wondered why "muslims" would follow the sayings of a Bedouin from the Arabian desert?

It would be surprising to most hindus that there is a beautiful concept in Islam called the ummah. This means that regardless of your occupation, regardless of your wealth, regardless of your caste or creed, regardless of the language you speak, regardless of the region you live in; if you are a muslim, you are part of the larger Islamic family.

That's how an Irani or a turk or an iraqi or a kashmiri or a bosnian or a pakistani, all seem like extended family.

Furthermore, if one does not worship based on the region, or the caste, or the language, or the food, or the local wildlife, one does not consider the truth to be foreign.

In fact, one become more universal in approach.

So the bearer of truth, our prophet, does not appear to be "foreign" or a Bedouin, to us. Just another human being that was designated as a messenger by the creator.

Would my hindu friends understand this? That one does not have to be tied to local language, caste, region, wildlife?

For in truth, we are all created by the same creator, whoever you should choose to call that creator.

This is a large topic of course, I could discuss similarities between vedic hinduism and Islam, but these days I get paid to talk about that...so let's leave that for another day ;)

Hope this helps. If you need further counseling please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for reading.
