Some respect for religious beliefs (Revised)

Posted: Apr 18, 2008 Fri 12:37 am     Views: 267    Interacts: 14

This blog is so incredible that it is worthy of being reiterated over and over ... many times:

Ms. Nadeen, how did you come up with something so original, so profound - I'ver never seen or heard of anything like this before, ever - honest!

Just in case anyone missed it the first two times it was posted, here it is again as a voluntary Public Service:

Some respect for religious beliefs (Revised)

By: Nadeenahmed83

There are so many religions in the world, all of them different from each other.

I live in a society where my kids go to school with at least 12 different different religious beliefs.

Yet during their free time, if you go and have a look, each is playing with the other, least bothered about who believes in what.

If within a society, two religions are having community differences, its not the religion that should be blamed, its the evil acts of the people involved.

I am sure there are plenty of reasonable, educated, decent people holding the same religious beliefs who do not commit such unlawful acts.

If one wants one's own religious belief to be respected, one must not pass collective judgement on believers of a religion as a whole.

Respect for each others belief is the only way to survive in a multi religious culture....

If there is no respect, only name calling and unfair accusations targeted at the innocent members of the community as well -

How do you expect life to be peaceful in the first place?

Peaceful intentions and some thinking before giving a statement is always a wise man's first and foremost act.

Tolerance and respect towards all religions is the first thing they teach us in Islam. If some choose to ignore it, that is called personal choice, and cannot be classified as a teaching of Islam.

Please be fair on this.

Peace!!!

NOTE: No disrespect intended towards the religious beliefs of any one reading this ilog.

Posted by Nadeenahmed83,

Sure it's OK. Where shall I send the bill?

I have put up one of your comments on my ilog now, I hope its ok...As for discussing Islam, I won't discuss it in the future. Thanks.

Oh well Nadine, we folks on Chowk have been dissecting religion since 10 years now, and after 9/11 it is pretty much clear (at-least to me) what the conflict is about and that it cannot be resolved. So, there really is no point in conflict-resolution when entire world-views are in collision as far as Islam Vs any other belief system is concerned.

Best is not to discuss Islam with non-Muslims at all because perceptions are way too divergent. That almost inevitably results in serious conflict.

Other than that, everyone's fine on a person to person basis - and in fact my very best friend in real life is an ex-Israeli Jew in Zurich!

Being a muslim, I cant defend or support any muslim who may be working against the true essence of Islam, but sometimes, the tolerance thing has to apply to me as well...if someone chooses a certain path in life, its between them and Allah...so I let Allah decide...and many times, even when I wish to make a change in their thinking, all I can do is suggest peacefully...that's my limitation as a person...I love Islam, its who I am...that is normally quite enough for me :-) I let the world take care of their own lives to the best of their own ability.

hmm....maybe I over reacted...

Its ok. You are right about the change the world thing though...I know I cant change anything...therein lies my real frustration...I normally try to write about social issues...which thankfully have no religious boundaries and anyone can relate to them. Whenever some page from the diaries makes you think, and you have an opinion on the issue, I look forward to your positive feedback :-)

Nadeenahmed83,

Oh, no war at all. I was just kidding. It wasn't about 12 or various or whatever - far from it. If you had said two I would still have said the same thing. All I was saying was that if it was as easy as you imagine, the world would be a very different place indeed.

That was a grammer error...I was translating DARJANOUN DEEN from Urdu.
Its not really like that you know. My children actually respect all religions.
I have read your ilogs. You write real well. I will now go correct the ilog, and put in 'various religions' instead.
I was just getting iron mask off my case because I am not going to have a war on this anymore. It was just a joke. Bye.

And now Nadeen, where can I find at least 12 different religious beliefniks to play with? Do I have to go back to school for that like in your story?

Even Maharishi kicked the bucket but there's just gotta be another place ...

Look you gotta help me because you finally helped me see the deceptive simplicity of the matter and showed me the right Path! Now what do I gotta do next?

And I quote: Aaah, Nadeen ... Thank You, Thank You! I never knew what a fool I've always been

The para below particularly opened my tightly shut eyes, and I suddenly saw the light, and discovered I had been blind all along:

... at least 12 different religious beliefs.Yet during their free time, if you go and have a look, each is playing with the other, least bothered about who believes in what.

Aaah, Nadeen ... Thank You, Thank You! I never knew what a fool I've always been, while all I needed to do ever was find at least 12 different religious beliefniks to play with!
