A tribute to a playboy

I always liked him as a cricketer but there were some of his contemporaries whom I liked better. Of course he distinguished himself as a skipper perhaps matched only by Kardar in the Paki history but then I can never forgive him for putting an end to the fortunes of many young cricketers on road to their illustrious careers.

It was the sheer passion, his leadership and the man’s obsession for the materialization of the cancer hospital project that led his team to the victory stand in the 1992 world cup against all odds when the chances of the Pakistani side to qualify for the semi finals were just reduced to a statistical possibility. He had the guts to admit the same before the 87,000 Australian supporters who had turned out on the D day to cheer his side against the adversary. He beamed with glory as he could see his dream come true and years later it finally did!

His decision to join the filthy political arena came as a surprise to many. The endeavours and motives leading to such a decision were questioned. His background and stature did not provide many credentials and after his marriage he was relentlessly dubbed as a Zionist implant and a Jewish agent.

In contrast, he has so far proved himself to be a principled politician with a long term vision; the one who is sensitive to the needs of the people and downtrodden society. While our leadership is going through hectic rounds of discussion in London and Dubai to settle irrelevant issues as the nation craves for roti , bijli and pani, Imran Khan despite massive opposition has used his influence to materialize yet another project for the poor and uneducated masses of his area.

The inauguration of the Namal College by the beautiful Namal lake located in one of the most backward areas of the province if not Pakistan adds another feather to the cap of Imran Khan. The research oriented education centre targeting the poor and local students would not only bring more education and employment by improving the skill set and technical know how of the students, it would also provide a means to replace the primitive social fabric underlying the values of the region.

I am not sure what’s your take on that but as a typical middle class Pakistani citizen I would not like to peep into the chapters of his personal life to dig out if he enjoyed having an affair with Zeenat Aman or Sita White or why his estranged wife decided to hang out with Hugh Grant lately but what is more relevant is the fact that he seems committed to deliver something to the deprived classes.

Keep it up and hats off to Khan Sahib!

Read a lot about "Whats wrong about khan" but whatever its not his fault only but ours. we have been selecting every then and now and chanting "change" afterwards. The only change I feel is when we change ourself and think out of blood-boxes of PML, PPP, ANP, JI.
change your mind, khan will look better than others.

He surely stands tall among the current lot of pakistani politicians. His committment to the masses can't be questioned as he's proved it time and again. Bravo! Imran Khan.
