Freedom of Expression!

Freedom of expression is a right guaranteed to us by the US constitution, first amendment. What does it mean in the virtual world of internet and how to implement it? Would it apply to all of its denizens despite of their country of residence? One has to assume that if a corporation, to whose servers we use, is incorporated in America or any other nation which supports the idea of freedom of expression then all the correspondence on such servers should be free of auditing and other mediating practices. Well, not always, as is shown in the recent case of Google vs. Government of China, Google had to bow down to the whims of the Chinese Govt. and put filters in place to filter out ‘objectionable’ contents.

But what about the citizens of the free world? Should their right be protected? Case in point, I hinted (albeit inadvertently) that the founding father of a nation having conjugal relations with his own mother. That was metaphorical and, if you are from the subcontinent, you very well know that it is one of the most commonly used cuss words. So. Can that be reason to ban an interactor? May be, I am not sure.

But again that is not my issue, I take umbrage at they not following that policy consistently. There are numerous occasions when the same person and other prominent historic personalities have been targeted with the vilest remarks, interactors have made lewd comments about other interactors and their private parts and family members and yet nothing happened. I am flummoxed. So what are the rules?
