- Lemon Tree - A Spanish poem of Jennifer Clement in translation
Its spring or fall
the evening of melonchly's over
and yet no star, no glow warm
asked me of my well being.
sitting in a high story window
I'm wondering if my pains
have yet to worsen
before they take my last breath.
perhaps I still have to suffer in longings
perhaps I still have to heal my wounds...
your fragrance still lingers
in my hands. no one has yet
set right my tangled tresses.
I still crave for your love,
I let out love sighs,
I call your name unwittingly,
I languish in melancholy.
my soul still desires you,
you're always on my mind.
