Crafts should be promoted in Bundelkhand: SANJAY
Jhansi. In Bundelkhand region man power is sufficient but there is lack of employment.The work of hand made crafts can pay an important role in Bundelkhand but local craft industries are decline.
Sanjay Pandey the convener of Bundelkhand Ekikrit Party said that the different part of Bundelkhand excel in specialised crafts such as making wood toys and silver fish .More routine artisan work like weaving,oil-milling,carpentry,leatherwork,etc,has even greater potential for livelihood-generation.These need to be revived ,although quite the opposite is happening.
The khadi-weaving centre of Jaitpur in Mahoba district used to employ 7000 weavers.They went out of work after a local thug took over the factory ,bought cheap cloth from outside,stamped "Jaitpur khadi" on it and sold it at a profit.
Tendu patta industry should also be promoted,such type of craft industries can provide employment.
