Reign of Terror.

Of late I am wondering about the American sensibility;
(the land that belongs, and has belonged to many peoples)
How can a sense of success, ring in the sexual likelihood
in a country that only wants to - exceed, push, excel, win.

The metaphors here often used in classes are; sports, dogs
Examples that have begun to make me sick
As a poet, the default detonation is, at least, 'an aesthetic'
an integral woe of some sort -
that could bind us all together, even in hatred
keep the sparks of our heart, alive.

These days I am only confronted with dying
slow dying, fast dying, races dying, metaphors dying
'languages deadened and dulled to decorum'
(which is better) for if not this
then it is an appearance of something worse:
an abundance of repressed violence and sexuality
(the same that a Victorian society was once deemed 'unsuccessful' for.)

Had Freud not been so god damn right about a few things,
I might have reconsidered my essential notion,
that the Psychological is the key to Medicine.

How often we have loitered on these streets
wondering, wondering
as blue specs of freckle-skies, disappearing:
what is the real purpose of math? of Education?
