Blast from the past

Posted: Mar 16, 2009 Mon 06:40 am     Views: 254

I was at YouTube looking for a song from the 1968 film "Kanyadaan": "Sunday ko pyaar hua." One of the first 45's of Hindi fillumi gaane we had in our house had that song on the "A" side. YouTube has a lot of songs from "Kanyadaan", just not that one. :(

***
This song that follows from "Aap ki kasam" will always remind me of some of the songs my cousins recorded on cassette. I picture a yellow Agfa cassette, definitely not a TDK which was the brand for a lot of recorded cassettes we bought. Khair, I was at BaRe Maamoo's house in the pinD, listening to this cassette when this song came on. And some of us broke out into giggles and guffaws, because right after the first line, "karvaTeN badalte rahe. . ." you could hear this phooN sound, which sounded quiet and delicate on tape, but which would have offended one your senses in person, while possibly sending you into spasms of laughter.

To this day, I cannot listen to this song without anticipating my cousin's fart.

Oh but is love really love when this. . . .:

becomes this. . . .
