The IDP's

Posted: May 21, 2009 Thu 09:39 pm     Views: 364    Interacts: 7

Ignominy pulled the chaddars
of the heads of their womenfolk
and indignity handed the begging bowls
to the men once very esteemed.
Their children flash on our tv screens
like stars but they are meteors of irony.

The protection of their homes
sulked into illusion for no fault of theirs
as they stumble upon mirage after mirage
getting hurt in the process.

The piercing holes of bullets in their souls
are beyond the therapeutic agents
but their bodies could surely be saved
from the sharpened jaws of the apocalypse.

Let they not be consumed by strife,
chasing the humans like a beast on pursuit
for we may well be the next
if it fancied the human blood.

Thank you all, for sharing the concern about the tragedy unfolding in our backyards. I'm feeling the guilt of not being able to help the IDP's the way I'd have liked to do but I'm sure there are lots amongst you who are doing the needful in much much meaningful manner.

Thanks Delirium, leenah, quin, Fouz and eleventyone for having a look at the poem and liking it.

"... if it fancies the human blood"
deep, hitting the raw nerves.
What a tragedy unfolding, with no end in sight ...
kudos for bringing focus on these issues

Sad and touching. Good to listen to such voices! May He give us enough strength to prove our worth as their support. Ameen. Please all, keep on contributing damay, darmay sukhanay, because He does not let any gesture go unnoticed.
