.... and I feel nostalGik!

In your professional school, if you had:

to be a hostelite,
with seniors fooling you around,
while you combat an unending string of unexpected quizzes,
and locked doors to lecture rooms after 5 minutes of scheduled class (and an attendance of 74.99% LITERALLY meant that you can not appear in the finals!),
resulting in a habit of searching for 'chaapaas' at the 12th hour, for the assignment due at 8am the next morning,
and addiction to 'The' LAN culture,
causing troubles getting last night crashers for your final in the morn,

then I think you know what this little movie is all about.
:)

ps: one thing I missed out, ' and if you had the nearest civilization 2.5 hours away! ' :P

Fouz,
I believe, once initiated, life would have suddenly unveiled a treasure of its adventures :P
Karachi-Lahore muqaballa was always on, even in that scenic terrain of Tarbela dam. Its an endless debate :)
Somehow, I believe this kind of experience (the hostel life) brings out either the best or the worst out of us, it kind of drags one to the extreme of potential. In my situation, since it was a residential university, no one had the edge of a being the day scholar. Sab ka sab kuch waheen tha! A situation that was good and bad at the same time!!! :)

Truly enjoyed sharing it here :)

bhs75,

I am glad you enjoyed it :)

I remember a friend who had quite a similar fate as yours in the differential equation course and the crime was not a stunt of mimicry but a black and white carry catcher of the professor! The culprit was caught red handed while showing it off to those nearby and the professor approached from the back! :) I still remember the horror of the situation because precisely at that moment I was giving my praising remarks for the exceptional similarity :P

Thanks for sharing bhs75 :)

I missed out on hostel antics during university having studied in home town but when we were in Lahore (Civil Services Academy), that was one hell of a fun. We were supposed to behave like officers but no one did that. Rowdy, extremists and pranksters, people brought their hostel experiences from all over Pakistan (and abroad) and subjected everyone to live it :) For hostel-virgins like me, those were the days of initiation and in my subsequent hostel experiences, I never failed. Very happy memories. Thanks for bringing'em back :)

Cool i-Log and Delirium, bro, I can so connect with the UET experience. First because NED was not much different; we used to experience vicariously the ayyashis of hostelites and participated in them. And secondly my friends from UET never failed to remind me of their (supposed, yeah) superiority of UET. During my Lahore days I used to visit UET for some syndicate shit and a regular Karachi-Lahore muqabila (mubahila!:) would ensue just on the question of edibility of Canteen stuff and/or the friendliness factor of the girls! :p
Nice days those.

I did not get a chance to study in pakistan and now that I see my brothers having fun I feel I missed something big!!!

being an expat student, or rather, asian student in the west is bit tough for a while & the hostel life was quite boring (unless you were into smoke & drink and getting laid)

I was banned to attend the chemistry class all thru the year cause I could mimic our chemistry professor & he heard me i guess !!!

so whenever I was trying to catch the period, he would come in and say "anyone who can mimic me may leave now". it costed me one extra year cause my attendence.

I did not know he took it to the heart that much!!! so when I lost a year & started all over again he came to me & said "had enough?",I got pissed & said "bring it on ... woman!!!" he lafed and walked away...

oh well !!! :) somehow I passed !!! yeah those were the days!!! looking forward to the reunion in July.

Was UET much different ? Makes me nostalgic too. When it comes too fooling; couldn't go to the campus for first 2 weeks and then was extremely hard to survive at the hostel for the next couple of weeks.
