as far as i could make out, the hadith merely refers to a conquest in india by a group of muslims at some point in future (with reference to the prophet's lifetime). and so it has happened already; there was a period in the history of the subcontinent when muslims conquered and established themselves as rulers in certain parts of india; their rule continuted with a greater or lesser control over parts of india, until the colonization of india by the british.
the original hadith, regardless of its level of authenticity, could not have referred to modern day india in any sense of the word for there was, historically, no unified india until the time of british colonization. also, there isn't the slightest hint that this is one of the end time events in islamic eschatology.
from what i can see, the prediction has already been fulfilled, over and done with. the needless jumping up and down by indians and drooling by pakistanis is entirely imagined. i believe the hype suits some hindus just fine as it gives them a ready stick with which to continue beating and demonizing pakistan, islam, and muslims.
as for the pak dreamers:
"dil ke behlaanay ko ghaalib ye khayaal achcha hae"
a word about this "ghazvat-ul-hind" nonsense. the term "ghazva" refers to military campaigns in which the prophet(pbuh) personally participated. the idea of having a ghavzva nearly two millenium after his death is simply hilarious. i have no idea who has concocted it.[-X
