Why do people love you more when there is less of you to love?
I came across this line years ago, in some book or magazine. It stuck with me. I was reminded of it again yesterday when I saw a programme on BBC about people being hit and abused on the streets because of their weight. In the UK, they are trying to bring in a law where discriminating against a person due to their weight will be illegal.
Across the ocean in San Francisco, a lawyer is lobbying hard to bring in legislation where a doctor cannot ask a patient to discus their weight and related issues if they dont want to. Hmm, not sure if that is a good idea...
Traditionally, if people are unhappy with their weights, they try to do something about it. But increasingly there seem to be a number of obese people who state that their weight loss has taken over their lives. They want to stop trying to lose weight and enjoy their lives, rather than making their weight the issue around which their life revolves.
Which comes back to the same thought..Why do people love you more when there is less of you to love?

It takes a bigger (metaphorically speaking of course) to look beyond superficialities.
