how will this help people from rural backgrounds? they still have to pass the iit entrance tests.
what it does mean is that people will have to start taking school a little more seriously. a lot of kids now attend fake schools , others barely attend school, since it's not hard to get 80% in most places.
also, it will disadvantage students from states where it is actually quite hard to get 80%, eg in west bengal the topper barely used to get 75%, i don't know what it's like now.
