Suicide bombing has almost become a norm these days in Pakistan. It is a phenomenon that has gripped people all over the globe in shock and awe. Suicide bombing has been condemned by all and sundry due to its disastrous implications. No religion, sect or belief supports suicide bombers. No sane person has the nerve to call it a justified act. Almost every society in this world from the coasts of New Zealand to Green Land or to Alaska deems suicide bombing as a shameful act. What then has caused an almost 10-fold increase in this foolish act over the last 10 years? It's worthwhile to remember that Japanese pilots started suicide droppings (we can't call the dropping of whole aircrafts as bombings). That was the time when the whole Japanese nation was watching a defeat knocking at its doors. Thus, the kamikaze bombers came to the forefront, becoming legends known for their self-sacrifice. The Germans-allied in cause with the Japanese during WW II-soon joined and at instances German Air Force (Luftwaffe) undertook some suicide attacks. In recent times, Tamil Tigers (LTTE) have been credited with conducting the bulk of suicide bombings against Sri Lankan government during 1980-2000. The oppressed Palestinians-after giving up hopes on both western world and their Muslim brethren- gave the maneuver popularity as well. Iraq and most recently Pakistan has been subject to alarming number of suicide attacks by so-called Islamic groups in the last 8 years. Almost everyone has condemned the suicide bombers but few people have tried to look for the reasons that why anybody chooses to give up their life for their cause. Taking a look at the majority of suicide bombers, one notices that in most cases the people conducting suicide attacks are under the age of 25. It just shows how opportunist organizations like Al Qaeda and LTTE brain wash the youths and instill in them a belief of hopelessness and the impetus for giving away their lives for a cause. Apart from the age factor, another thing that demands intention is the demographic link. Almost all the rogue organizations recruit people from underprivileged, neglected regions as they already have some grudge in themselves and they require lesser brainwashing than people from urban centers. Suicide bombers have also been found to belong to poor, uneducated families (exceptions have been there). In Pakistan, the rogue elements have worked on the same lines. Most of the suicide bombers have been under 25, from N.W.F.P, FATA or Balochistan-which have been largely neglected by the federation –and have been brainwashed by their mentors, promised a lot of Hoors in Paradise, and even remuneration to their families after they have performed the attacks. The Government of Pakistan has done absolutely nothing to address the problems faced by people, leading to increase in frustration felt by the youth and a sense of desperation is looming country-wide. People are sick of political gimmicks. It is high time that the concerned authorities take some steps to not only nip the "evil" in the bud but also look to address the reasons behind the production of suicide bombers as have been discussed earlier in this post. Remember, Suicide bombers are humans as well, its the society that makes them so. Lets act, before its too late.

i concur with your views.... poor are exploited by the elite and treated as pawns for their ulterior motives

a suicide bomber was caught in balochistan, where the roof of a building collapsed upon him, leaving him immobile...a day before he was planning to carry out a suicide attack....mubasher lucman interviwed him and found that he was a poor man, promised money and good care of his family for which he was sacrificing his life....no religion, no ideeology no motive....just poverty and exploitation :(
