Unrealism of lotus-eaters

Exhibit one: Musharraf doesn't understand the concept of sovereignty of Parliament

Kuldip Nayar

I recall my meeting with Musharraf in Islamabad two years ago. During our discussion on Kashmir, he was arguing how the territorial regrouping of Jammu and Kashmir could make borders irrelevant. He had an interesting point of view. I told him that the Indian parliament might not agree to his proposal. He asked me why the parliament should come into the picture when he, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the respective cabinets would have approved the proposal. He honestly believed in what he said.

Exhibit Two: Valley Muslims demanding removal of the phantom blockade

Even if there is no blockade its the PERCEPTION of blockade which matters.

Suman K Jha: According to the Home Ministry, there was never any economic blockade. The national highways were blocked for only one day.
Mehbooba Mufti: If there is no blockade, why is the Army still on the highway? And it’s not just about the blockade, it’s about the impact on the psyche of the people. If we say there was no blockade, we’ll be fooling ourselves.

Prem Shankar Jha
"The state administration's assurance to New Delhi that there is no blockade is blatantly false. Even if it had not been, Kashmiris believe there is a blockade, and that is what matters."

The lotus eaters of the region can afford grievances about imaginary things. The rest of us have to worry about real life stuff like livelihood, high cost of living, education of children.

In one case(the Pakistani one) the lotus eating is subsidised by American tax payer. In the other case(the Valley Muslim one) the lotus eating is subsidised by Indian tax payer.
