Only for girls

Posted: Aug 23, 2007 Thu 09:07 pm     Views: 297    Interacts: 5

In our high school there was only 1 room toilet that was reserved for teachers and girls only. so we boys have to walk out of the village about half kilometer to relieve ourselves. it was good excercise...I still have good stamina to hold my pee for hours from first warning sign:-)

anyways...the door to the toilet had a text on it in Punjabi saying that "Only for Girls"....in Punjabi we use two words for "only" - sirf or kewal. somehow kewal was very popular in those days although everyone uses "sirf" now.
so toilet door read
"kewal larkiyaN wastay".

One of the students was named "Kewal Singh". so we used make all kind of jokes about him and girls.
it was fun.

I didn't know that "kewal" was used in Punjabi as well, but then I have come across this word only recently, only to have my mother tell me what it means. Kewal larkiyaN wastay, is funny, but not for bechaara Kewal Singh.
