The joy of watching pakistani punjabi movies...

Posted: Nov 12, 2007 Mon 12:35 pm     Views: 817    Interacts: 1

When I was in Pakistan, going to the cinema to watch....no....participate in a punjabi film was something to look forward to.

I am sure our indian friends probably cannot relate as the cinema in the two countries is very different.

First, no-one was really watching the movie...the screen basically served as a prompter for us all to shout out witty comments. The comments weree judged by the audience with claps or jeers.

Every scene took on a new meaning.

And if you were smart, you would sit in the gallery, in the back rows.

And order a samosa plate with a lot of chutney. And then fling that plate into the audience after having eaten the samosas, but leaving the chutney intact.

It was an extreme sport. Sometimes coke bottles would come raining down...you had to have some sort of a shield to protect you while you looked for cues on screen to shout out your own funny lines...

anywho...here is a fight scene, an extremely original fight scene, between sultan rahi (he made at least 20 movies a year, with a record of 33 movies one year) and mustafa qureshi.
