Christian atheists, Jewish atheists, Muslim atheists, and Hindu atheists

While these morons sound like oxymorons, they are merely conveniently hypocritical labels.

They will go to church and be seen worshipping to gather votes. They will deny the existence of God, but claim the land of Israel due to the "Covenant" between God and Abraham. They will stuff their faces in secret or even starve themselves during Ramadan just to impress others. They will break coconuts over their laptops to launch new software and even smear war paint on their faces.

But they will all deny the existence of God. Not because they really believe that He doesn't exist, but because they fear Judgment Day and the retribution that He may prescribe for their evil deeds on earth.

...and of course to shore up their own weak belief in the absence of God, they must be zealots in propagating their "faith" to avoid being in the minority. As if, a majority of atheists is going to scare off the Supreme Being from holding court on the Final Day.

Little do these hypocrites realize that if they are right and there is no God, then who cares? They will not be around to celebrate their victory over the "foolish" believers. But if there is a God, then they are the ones who are screwed for eternity. LOL

{"The Indian mind may be closer to the one in the pre-Islamic or jahiliyah period - I am guessing here"} *-)

Kaal Bhayya,
I am so glad that Shah Sahib posted your words of wisdom here. I think that you have something genuinely interesting in this. Yes, the people of Mecca during Jahaliyah were quite similar to "modern" Hindus - long on pomp, ceremony, and commercialized religion, but very short on sacrifice, self-denial, and faith in the hereafter. :) It's not profitable or even self-assuring to think of life after one'
s death. :D

{"Salim, I am not sure who am I! "}

Cobray, you always know who you are - even if the state keeps changing. The truth is always known to us even if we pretend to be unsure or even confused.

{"Do I believe in God, well at the abstract level... may be! does that make me deist rather than atheist.. may be. Or am I agnostic and don't believe in Organized religion. Sure sounds more like it. I don't need Church (figuratively speaking) to tell me what are my duties and what results in what."}

Belief in your heart has nothing to do with belief or support for organized religion. By definition, I am a Muslim and therefore cannot be a member of an organized religion. :D :D :D

I agree with you that you don't have to believe in ANY organized religion. Organization, classification, categorization is inherently human - and thus prone to all kinds of errors and oversights.

{"If I were to believe all that then, as a hindu, we don't have a judgment day or quayamat, we go through several yonis to be born as a human where our aim to seek the permanent happyness which is beyond heavens and where you become one with god himself. Singularity....."}

Of course, the concept of rebirth and elevation or demotion is a form of judgment and retribution. So, there is the element of eventual reconciliation of the balance sheet even in Hinduism. It is this aspect of "religion" or "belief in a God" that the atheists are trying to erase.

{"They do not want to bear burden of all the religious garbage."}

Cobray,
I would be OK with them if that's all they are doing. But, these hypocrites are more than happy to enjoy the advantages of Hindu caste, Muslim shaikhiness/sayyidity, Jewish network/support, and Christian commercial benefits. They like everything about religion except for the existence of a Supreme Being who can/will enforce the concept of retribution, judgment, and accountability. 8-|
