First of all, a Happy St. Patrick's day to all those who celebrate, I'd wish those who celebrate their name day on this day a blessed name day but there are none here who observe that tradition.
There are two colors associated with St. Patrick, blue and green, but the green is definitely more prevalent for his life and times amongst the Irish. . . if I had saved my kelly green hat that a friend brought for me to wear in high school one day to show our support as hardcore Celtics fans, I would wear that every St. Paddy's day but alas, 'twas not mine to save. . .

One of my favorite albums of all time is Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours." And this is my favorite song from it: "The Chain". This performance is bloody intense! It IS JUST a performance on a stage, but when you know the history of interpersonal relationships in this band, especially between Lindsey Buckingham (electric guitar) and Stevie Nicks, there's all these subtexts. I love John McVie's bass solo around 2:32, and how Buckingham's guitar quietly comes in and then crescendoes. Bloody good stuff!
This song was drummed into my head one late weeknight in freshman dorm when the guy who lived above me had a drinking party in his room and played this over and over again, while he and some boys and girls played quarters. (a drinking game) Unable to sleep unless I asphyxiated myself with my pillow, I listened to the clinking of quarters against glass, and memorized the words. . .
From the same album, and another favorite, "Go your own way" which could also be called "Lindsey's rant" or more kindly, "Lindsey's lament." I wish they had finished the entire song without bringing in the commentary in the end. A break up not to make up song. . .
This is the title song from the album "Tusk". I like this video because even with Fleetwood Mac's presence (in large cut-up doll version is John McVie), this is more of an homage to the USC marching band without whom this song would probably not have been as big as it was and still is. (or any marching band for that matter) When I was in school in San Jose, after a long day of graduate classes, and tutoring assignments, I passed by marching band practice on my way to the apartment. The drums, the drums always call out to me. . .

I think I should go back to adding the "u" in certain words, rumours, favour, colour, now that I'm not in school anymore, with no teachers to underline those words in red and scribble "Brit. sp". It's funny, when I was in school in Lahore, some of us wanted to rebel and omit the "u" only to be told we didn't do English "the American way." I've always wanted to return to some of my bartanvi influenced education. . .heh heh heh heh heh!
