The drama queen's (Bibi) camera friendly emotions

Posted: Oct 19, 2007 Fri 06:40 am     Views: 140    Interacts: 0

Every feudal member of PPP was assigned a number of buses that he had to bring from his locality. All senior PPP members were also expected to contribute to a wasteful fund of tens of crores that was to be spent canvassing our cities with large billboards welcoming Bibi with the face(s) the brown-nosing feudals who paid for them. No message was delivered as to her agenda for improving the lives of these impoverished and downtrodden people of Pakistan; just photos of the Bhutto dynasty reminding us of their hereditary right to rule over us.

On D-day the plan had been fulfilled; thousands of buses stuffed full of least educated from the most backward parts of our country had been brought in to ensure that the technicality of having 1 million people on the streets on the day of her arrival could be said (by Bibi and her cronies) to be a testament to the will of the people. The dubiousness of this claim should be self-evident, but for the record, the will of the people would have been expressed if they had freely chosen to travel these distances from their villages rather than have been ordered by their feudal chiefs and further encouraged by the provision of free transportation, food & drink and the promise of some serious halla gulla.

As the drama-queen descended the stairs from the airplane, she heaped insincerity on all with the most predictable of all actions; yes, Bibi was overwhelmed with camera-friendly emotions, and surprised that her orders to truck in so many feudal peasants from the hinterlands had been so successful, spontaneous tears started to flow. Brilliant stuff for the image bank, and absolutely sure to be reused in the next chapter in the life of the “courageous daughter of the nation”….I think I’m going to be nauseous.

One just needed to look at the woman in red walking in front of Bibi, pushing and shouting at people trying to get too close, but smiling every time she realized the camera was on her. Although she wasn’t the center of attention and she wasn’t being focused on by the cameras, she certainly put the whole disgusting display in a clearer perspective.
