Long Live Pak-Turk Friendship

On Eid, me and my husband went out for a walk and then dinner. Before leaving we went to their apartment and knocked the door I was confused and wasn't prepared what to say. A teenage girl opened the door and I gave her halwa and told her that i met her parents other day. She was very happy and confused and told me that her parents have gone to market. I was also confused and did my part of trademark babbling. I told her my name and apartment number then said happy Eid to her and left her confused and grinning. When we came back after 4 hours we found a note on our door which read something like

Selamin Aleykim
Happy Eid too.
We are waiting
(Couple's names)
(Apartment Number)

I was so excited to read that but my husband said we'll tell them we came late so could not come. I glared at him and said "we are going". He took some time to get ready while I waited for him. See? who says women take time in getting ready.

Anyway, we went to their apartment. This lady was so happy to see us she told us that they liked "Halwa" very much. I was amazed to know that they also call it Halwa. Then she told us that she has baked a cake for us. I was a little "sherminda" to hear that and thought probably i should have given them a big container of Halwa. We told her that we can't eat anything because we just had our dinner. But she said there is no way we could get away without eating. I said ok give us a cane of pepsi and we'll share it so she did. We talked a lot, they just came here so they had a lot of new stories and experiences to tell. while talking I noticed that with her every trip to kitchen, fruits and desserts have started appearing on table. At first, all four of us started talking together but after sometime husbands were talking to each other and me and this lady were talking on topics interested us more. We talked about Turkey problems, Pakistani Problems, Islam, start of "urdu" (which is a turkish word), Turkish language. Then her daughter came in who was downstairs for studying. We talked talked and talked. They also distribute Haleem on Ashura and Halwa etc on Shab e Qadar and make Sajji but they have different name for these events and food. They also have Jinnah Street in their city and I told them we have Istanbul Chowk in Lahore. We talked about program of study of her daughter. I told them where to shop for cheaper food. She had bad experience in a Govt office and I told her that generally people are very welcoming here she should not get hurt on Govt officer's behavior. They are bad to everyone.

We talked from 7 to 9:30. I felt warmth of home, they also zabardasti put food in your plate as we do in Pakistan. I promised them that we'll take them next time we go for groceries. I also promised her daughter to give her email address of my Hindu friend as she needs help in her assignment on "Living Religions". I explained them what Sikhism is and that I speak the same language which Sikh speaks. We have talked about so many things that I have not talked in last one year.

I am very glad I met them. Finally, after one year I have some real neighbors. Not to mention, she gave us the cake she made for us. Now, I will send her some Pakistani dish next time.

Thanks for everyone who made me go there :)

Edited:
I forgot to mention earlier, that they also gave us Turk "nazar boncuk" attached with keyring to avoid bad nazar. She actually recited Surah e Falaq to tell me what is it for. Also, their beautiful saucer kind of decoration piece. I will post their pictures in my Gallery.

Don’t you think it’s simply amazing that while being from different cultures and regions we are spiritually and emotionally connected with over a billion Muslims? We don’t know each other but some how with in a minute we become very close, comfortable and friendly with other Muslims.

I think this the brotherhood that was given to us by the Prophet (PBUH) and we should respect and value it.
