We had to come to FP to make some serious dents in this religious classification riddle. LOL. You are so right about rigidity - it's the glue that binds all traditions and extremists in one tightly secured fireball.
If Hindus realize how inflexible and rigid they appear to Muslims in their social customs, if Muslims realized how inflexible and rigid they appear to Hindus in their religious dogmas, you would hear some loud "Eurekas."
