In a simple but elegant ceremony, surrounded by friends, family and guards (to keep the girl interested), I got married last night.
As I woke up this morning and saw her sleeping peacefully next to me, the events that had transpired the previous night began to roll in front of my eyes like a movie. I slowly got up from the bed, wrapped a towel around me, and stood in front of the window overlooking the vast expanse of greenery. Spring in Boston had arrived in all its glory and flowers burst with colors. Somewhere in the trees, the morning birds were singing their heart out. I took a deep breath and my lungs filled with the scented air...and my heart filled with happiness. A soft calm descended on me...a calm I had not known since the advent my hormone laden boyhood.
"Atif!", I heard someone utter my name in the softest of the voices. I looked back. She was lying, with her head resting on her arm and a smile in her eyes...looking at me dreamily. For a split moment it stunned me. I suppose the idea that I now shared a bed, a room, and a life with another living and breathing person would take me some time to adjust to.
I stepped towards the bed...my heart pounding hard. For I knew exactly what was in store for me as soon as I jumped into the bed...it would be the remote control which I would use to flip on the DVD player and resume the X-rated movie from where I had left it off last night.
It was April Fools day. And my mind was having a field day playing tricks with me again.
