Haafiz Khuda Tumhara

Haafiz Khuda Tumhara

Next to being a part-time Chowkie, the most difficult thing to do is to attempt to leave Chowk cold turkey.

With the upcoming arrival of my new daughter and the ever-increasing workload with the business, I am getting very little sleep. The Obama administration has denounced torture. Sleep deprivation is definitely somewhere between water boarding and the extraction of fingernails.

I am grateful for all the affection, kindness, and support that I have received from my dear friends at Chowk over the last four and half years. If I have offended anyone, I am truly sorry.

My main objective was to make people laugh and laugh with others at their humor and wit. Perhaps I went overboard at times, but it was never in malice.

If ever I decide to return, it will be in my own name. So, please refrain from suspecting every innocent nick, and not so innocent nick, of being Salim Chauhan.

May Allah protect and bless each one of you.

I leave you with some appropriate lyrics - no I have not Coomarized the words. I have provided full credits below.

So long and in the words of the notorious sociologist from Chicago - "Take care of yourselves - and each other."

Khuda Nigehbaan ho tumhara
DhaRakte dil ka payaam lelo
Tumhaari dunya se jaa rahay hen
Utho hamaara salaam lelo

Courtesy - Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi aka Madhubala, sung by Lata, lyrics by Shakeel

ALSO:

Bukhsh dena meri khataaon ko
Bukhsh dena meri khataaon ko

Guzra huwa zamaana aata nahin dobaara
Haafiz khuda tumhaara
Haafiz khuda tumhaara
...
Achcha huwa jo tumne dekha nahin nazaara
Haafiz khuda tumhaara
Haafiz khuda tumhaara

Khuda Haafiz.

Your friend,

Salim Ahmed Chauhan
