Power to the people! (one step forward?)

Posted: Mar 15, 2009 Sun 03:47 pm     Views: 190

The reinstatement of CJ sahib is not exactly "one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind." (thank you Neil Armstrong) and only time will tell if this was all worth it. The lawyers and their supporters have achieved their victory, and must be congratulated.

One victory down, sainkRoN to follow. What could possibly be next?! :)

I watched "Amazing Grace" not too long ago. For those who haven't seen it, the story mainly focuses on the abolitionist William Wilberforce who pushed for the abolition of the slave trade in Britain. The film futzes with history, which is nothing new. There is one scene which takes place in Parliament where Wilberforce unrolls a scroll like document on the floor which has thousands of signatures on a petition to abolish the slave trade. In a heated argument with one of the rather ignorant opposition, he declares that the opposition cannot stand in the way of the will of "the people."

"The people?" The parliamentarian from the opposition side snarls back at him.

Power to the people! Whoever they are. :)
