First, if you were half as smart as you think you are (which you are not), you wouldnt be writing rubbish that is easily taken apart by anyone with some time to waste. So let me take your grand examples apart: if you had a brain, when reading my posts you would realize that i was not making any broad generalizations about indians or pakistanis, but referring to something very specific: namely, the condoning of scum like you and ranjit by other indian posters on chowk. You wont find any Pakistani getting away with writing the kind of hate-filled garbage you hindutva ideologues.

Second: i have now wasted sufficient time in addressing this post to a piece of scum lie you and you can come back with your usual namecalling in one liners and fake links to articles that have nothing to do with what you claim they are saying. You can go to hell.

GT sab, there are code-words, which bring out the primitive spirit, that which is imbibed in mothers milk (to quote jay). we have confusing hatred in our frog-brain. what these code words do, is bring out a gleeful release..a sense of belonging to a club. it allows us our hatred in comfort; i.e., if the club has many esteemed members, its a good hate. (i tried to use semi-colon!)

some posters perform the useful function of uttering the code-words, and the confused start mashallahs. there are other poster who post hate, but their hate does not contain code-words, so you dont see the wah-wahs.

You all Indian horrible hinuds - go easy on Mr Behram, OK?..... I mean, you guys are the reason why he has ended up this way in the first place..... It was an indian hindoo who abused him horribly in his childhood [he just confirmed sometime back - because paki hindoos are too nice to do such a horrible thing]....

Subroto: Perhaps you did not read the stuff that some Indian posters (ranjit in particular) were writing at the time of the earthquake. I believe you when you say you hate people who gloat over anyone`s death (let alone the death of poor villagers due to a natural tragedy!!), and normally this would go without saying, since you are obviously a decent individual (and please dont pass this of as being patronizing, since I am merely stating my understanding based on what you have been writing for years on chowk).

But ranjit and others proved themselves to be less than normal human beings when they were gloating over these deaths. All I am saying is that you had no need to rush to this scumbags defense when I told him that it was he who was the nut (for gloating over the deaths of villagers), not Behram (who is quite correct in noting below that it is these hindu ideologues who pollute chowk with their disgusting posts). All I will add to Behram is that normal Indians need to develop a backbone and stand up to these thugs. When some Indian tries to demonize christian missionaries, instead of flocking to join him (as happened in the recent article demonizing christian missionaries written by an Indian), you need to speak up to them.

Now the above mentioned `discourse` has to be rationalized to the civilized middle class. Why? To gain support of the polity which really matters. How is it done?

But hold on. The last poster is intelligent. She / he will quote to show that the arguement was always contingent on some and not `all`. Here is the quote (which I provide on his/her behalf):

Subroto: That is all very well. My original question still remains unaddressed: Where were you when ranjit was gloating over the deaths of people in the earthquake? A straight and honest answer will be appreciated. No playing to the gallery please.

Offensive as many of these posts are, they should not be deleted (banned). These posts are highly correlated with certain individuals and they can be easily ignored.

I do not want these posts to be deleted because they trace out very fascinating histories. Three of the involved interactors presumably stay in the US. Their initial posts were balanced, liberal and polite (one of them was very patronizing then and is so even now). But something interesting happened along the way. I am not sure what exactly, but it seems that their nationalistic or religious sentiments were hurt. That by itself is not interesting,.....what is interesting is the change in language and content of their posts.

Why do I find this interesting? Well, it is because of the following:
If frivilous Chowk bantering can bring out such hate from these educated, polite (and largely `secular`) people living in the country of milk and honey, imagine how less it would require for people in the `dark` subcontinent. (I am not very sure of this negative association).

The reverse is also there for people to see. YLH comes to mind straigt away. But check out the posts of Urstruly (who I believe was the first to mention the dhoti), harimau etc. I am not saying that these posters do not use foul language, they do (not YLH). But unlike the above mentioned posters, the latters` posts have more than foul language. In fact they have a lot more content.

After all....this is chowk. All kinds should be allowed.

I need no apologies nor do I need any character certificate. I do not favour people based on their religion nor am I seeking to reform anyone. I don`t coming rushing anyone`s aid because they are from my country. I dislike people gloating about death - unlike many of you I have personally known someone who died due to terrorism. Unlike the armchair warriors I have known families who suffered due to wars. I don`t believe in despising someone`s faith and belief however different it is to mine. I have relatives who follow a different religion than mine. I don`t think writing scatological posts with pedophilic content is same as defending the honour of your country.
That said this is a free-for-all site people are entitled to post whatever they like. Others have the right to reply in whatever manner they deem fit. If if the posts are not getting deleted then obviously the are meeting the guidelines If your post includes words or masked references that are offensive, crude, repugnant, or obscene, your post will be duly deleted. In that case there is nothing for me to protest about.
