Well written, Shandana. Death makes you aware of how pointless most things in life are, fights, feuds, disagreements. Funerals, I think, really help in giving a sense of closure as you pointed out. Your uncle seemed like a really great person. May he rest in peace.

And yes, don`t give up on the novel. Eventually, even the little one will find better company.
