dost-mittar
Recently a teacher was killed in Afghanistan by the Taliban because despite their repeated threats, he refused to stop teaching girls. The employees of another school were killed for the same reason.

I am sad at the killing of your friend. I think his killing is only the beginning of a deliberate targetting of scientists and technologists of India by people whose ideology has no value for modern education and technology and who, far from seeking mutual collaborations within the region to benefit a larger population, prefer to try and destroy any edge that India has on this count.

In my view, when unarmed teachers begin to be made victims of military generals` geopolitical strategy, it is very important for ordinary people to stand up and be heard on it.

dear dost mitter ji -- heard about this dastardly meaningless killing while I was in Delhi -- did not know a dear friend of my dear friend fell victim to this insane crime.

What a courageous MAN Munish was -- took the coward`s bullets to save his fellow scientist woman -- the ultimate sacrifice -- an ultimate profile in courage and humanity.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. We share your grief.

hasan

Some news articles about the investigation (which will cause a new window to open):

Sketch of Bangalore gunman released

IISc attack: Breakthrough soon, says Dharam

US firm employee detained, questioned about IISc attack

Lashkar hand in IISc attack established

Industry terms IISc attack as wake-up call for city

Also, one of the wounded was Prof Vijay Chandru, founder of the Simputer company and now heading a startup on bio-informatics.

Dear Dost Mitter,

Condolences on your loss. Only those who have experienced the loss of a dear friend can know how bad it feels. All of us here in Bangalore are united with you and Prof. Puri`s family in your grief.

I hope the perpetrators of this crime are discovered soon and get the punishment they deserve.

Thank you for sharing your memories of your friend with us. It helps us understand what a remarkable human being we have lost.

Attacks such as the one on IISc are clearly terrorist attacks. But they do not have any political goals, at least as far as I could make out. They are only motivated by hate, and there is no end in sight for such attacks.

Sorry to be negative on New Year`s eve.

Dost ji, my condolences for this tragic loss. May Dr. Puri`s family and friends gather courage to come out of this trauma.
Such acts need to be condemned by one and all at all levels.

when he could well have endeared himself to a fellow Punjabi from across the border.

Like the group of fellow Punjabis from across the border running the jihadi group that was, in all likelihood, responsible for his death?

DM - my condolences for your loss and that of a family which surely never saw this coming. For the past few years I`ve noticed that the year always ends in sorrow, whether for a few or for many. Here`s hoping for brighter tomorrows.

Dear Dost Mittar Jee,

Your friend was our maths teacher in engineering days 18 years back. He used to teach Maths 110 and Maths 120 in the first year. Some of the students would skip our teacher in `cycle 2` to attend his lectures in `cycle 1`.

If I recollect correctly, he was slightly `healthy` , fair and tall Punjabi guy. It is really sad that he had to die this way, when he could well have endeared himself to a fellow Punjabi from across the border. It just shows how easy it is for insanity to derecognize a human being. Or else why would a Professor, who imparts education to everyone irrespective of their religion, race, or nationality, succumb to a vicious agenda that the killer carried in his heart?

Regards.

Dear DM ji

I have read the books written by Shanti Narayan in my Higher Secondaory days. It is sad to see another intlectual being killed by Islam. It is the consistent with later Islamic invasion to get rid of the intlectuals and terrorise the masses to submission and conversion to islam and to the congregation of a prohet of dubious distinction.

It is time for Indians to crush the Islamic Terriorism.

My condolences to you on killing of your dearest friend.
