My information may be dated because I left Pakistan in the early 80s. But I certainly know Karachi, despite my few visits.

Are you telling me that Sohrab Goth was not afghani/Pathan area?

I may not know MQM`s exact role but I know the party well thru some excellent connections within and outside of the MQM. I have spent time in both Karachi and Hyderabd student politics when MQM was just taking shape and many people in the leadership are old buddies so don’t think that I don’t know because I know and I can name names.

Tell me where I am wrong. HOW and WHY specifically…Lets get that out of the way…

Don`t butt in when you are not needed. You take the university Road from Gulshan and go thru the FB area to get to Sohrab goth on the superhiway.

Btw, I am just trying to figure out how much Salim knows or it is just the MQM website coming to his rescue...

bhai miyaaN.. u r wrong on this count as u r on many others. Just take the road in front bhayani heights which comes from university and it will lead u to sohrab right smack in front of al-asif square.

First it was bihari colony now it is orangi town… Orangi town is nowhere near Sohrab Goth…Looking at the maps wont tell you where things are exactly. you need to be precise when you bring up specific incidents. The MQM site can help you so much.

How do you define Mohajirs? Only those who came from India after 1947 partition to Karachi? Or even those who came from other places of Pakistan? Or were those who came from other countries also considered as Mohajirs? Or is it a Mohajir mindset? which always is waiting for a handset and would cut off the hands that feed them?

Well, I would define Mohajirs as a mind-set of those Urdu-speakers who came after the fall of East pakistan. To Memons, and Bohras, and Kuchhis, and those from Rann of Kach areas, urdu speakers were all considered Panaah Geers, and hence Mohajirs. Never once did I hear these groups of people call themselves as Mohajirs. Actually, they hate this designation.

And, to flaunt their status, only the urdu-speakers consider themselves Mohajirs, and still do. And then, in 1977 elections, they supported Maulana Zafar Ahmed Ansari, who was backed by Jamaat-e-Islami, and who ran an independent candidate for the National Assembly constituent No. 6, the bastion of these so-called MQM stronghold. Why did these same Mohajirs, who are totally against JI support this Maulan`s candidacy?

MQM has no support whatsoever in the real old Karachi of Kharadar, or all the way from Guru-Mandir to Kemari, where the true respectable Mohajirs live. These people never once had any problems with the establishment. But the thugs and the goonda and the bhattageers considers them as docile.

Wow! what a convoluted thought. They consider themselves as business friendly because they claim Mohajirs developed Karachi. Where in the world do you find a business community develop killing fields? Only in their convoluted brains, can they conceive of a Bohra businessman in Bohri Bazaar to be a thug or a bhutta geer. Or for that matter a Memon from Kharadar, a businessman, become cell phone thief.

These businessmen can never devlop a terror manufacturing county such as in Korangi, a place that used all teenage boys, who worked in carpet weaving factories, and converted them into thieves and robbers.

Yet, they claim about North Nazimabad being developed. Yes, after almost 60 years, it is still primarily a residential area. Then if we look at Federal B area, what word do we see first FEDERAL.....yet these thugs and gangsters would lead us to believe that the federation did nothing for the Mohajirs.

Well, after all most of these urdu-speakers were qasai`s, and of course they know nothing better.

Yes Sohrab goth incidence....and the resulting Aligarh and Qazba Colony massacre were the bloodiest...

For 4-5 Hours ... the carnage kept on going......only after 8pm... they imposed a curfew with shoot to kill orders....
thats a reality....

.... By the way..... There were two small videos ( one about six minutes...and the other of about 2 and a half minutes) were prepared by someone.... who allegedly shot them from either behind a Water Tank on the roof top on a small house...... these videos were available from some select Video shops of the city..... and were given to the most reliable
persons..... It is also said .... they were available in LONDON too...


... Ironically.... these videos... just captured the misery of the victims only... NONE of them dared to capture the FACEs of the perpeturators..... ... most of which appeared to be wearing.... Pants shirts..... their faces were never shown.....!!

...... the incidence was an incitement..... MQM had a Jalsa in Hyderabad.....so most of its supportors were going to Hyderabad City on coaches.... Sohrab Goth is/was Just outside Tool Plaza....... ...It had a very large Afghani population....
Most of them were Drug peddlers....and dealers in Arms and Ammunation....
...there are reports... of a minor clash.... between the APMSO and some Afghanis.....
... it was about 12:am.....
Meanwhile .... they started annoucing a massive Clash between the Apmso and pathans in Hyderabad ... at about 1 PM.......
.....so the APMSO cadre starts pouring In.....in Sohrab Goth ... about 3Pm..... But again a small clash took place.... and Most of the Public was dispersed....
....The APMSO supporters kept returning back to Karachi... till very Late night....and there were obvious ``........ narey bazi........, with a few arieal firing........``...... whenever they passed from Sohrab Goth......

Sohrab Goth is on the left of Super high way..... about half a kilometer In.....

....The carnage started at about 4 On ward....... and it was very sudden.....
......... rumors started circulating about the carnage after the maghrib Prayers.... at about 6 or 7....... and the curfew was imposed at about 8 pm...

...It was only during the PTV news.... at 9 ....... some account to massive SCALE of carnage was reported......

.....and although the figures are still..... not confirmed..... But at least 200 to 300 people were massacred......

There is no Bihari colony nearby...The Mohajir neighborhoods close to it are Federal b area and the buffer zone...
