I would rather been known a suck up than be known as a killer. And that is exactly what your leader is known for in Karachi.
{``a hate monger, an angry man...All Tuff``
And what do you think you are! }
I know what I am. I know what I am known for. I have always been known for my authenticity, my honesty, my integrity. I am known as a straight shooter, who loves his city of birth Karachi. I am known as a person who loves his country. I have no anger towards anybody. I want those criminals who have destroyed my beautiful city to be brought to justice.

yaar, r u really that dense? who has ruled the country for the past 59 years? feudals and the army... direct or indirect..
altaf and his gang of thugs can go to hell along with the rest of the politicians and the army. I do take exception to the fact when ppl selectively blame mqm or the mohajirs for the problems in karachi. MQM has become some sort of a whipping boy and ppl go on and on about their evil ways. While completely turning a blind eye to what was the source of the problem... mqm is only a symptom... my dear batli vala.. don`t believe me? ask mr daruvala (queeen`cutn`paste) or sodavatervala...

Aasif:
You have twisted logic here.
{In time ofcourse the ppl have become just as blood thirsty as their tormentors: namely the army and the feudals.... } And that is why you would argue that the All Tuff goes on the killing campaign of these same Mohajirs in Korangi.
Who were the feudals in Karachi? And All Tuff gets married in the Gabol Family. Did you know how much respect Abdul Satter Gabol has for the Parsees? If he were ever to come to know that you are making fun of a batli vala, I am sure he will ask All Tuff (his son-in-law) to chop your penis off, so that you could never pee again.

Hey, who is calling U.P. a cultural wasteland? Jang sahib, that`s not done! In all fairness, you must also call it an agricultural wasteland.
LOL...Come on, folks! There is rest-of-the-(unfortunate)-world, and then there is U.P.!! ek mitti, ek sona; idhar jhulas dahakti aagh ke darya ki, udhar masti har din mehakte saawan ki, har aasmaan mein balkhaate baadalon ki; idhar phooti aankhon mein bharaa bebas andhera, udhar hain naachate kajarare nayan, ishk ke haseen nashe se sarabor.
Hum raazdaan, U.P. ko U.P. nahi kahate, use jannat ka darjaa dete hain.

it is hilarious when some of the son of soils look down upon the culture of the so called bhayyas. They don`t like the simple hard working rural folks from the gangetic plains but take pride in their own culture (sic) of karo kari, ghulaam gardish, bonded labors, honor killings, panchayat justice, blood feuds, tribal allegiences and the eternal serfdom of haris and kammis. There is just no comparison between the two! In time ofcourse the ppl have become just as blood thirsty as their tormentors: namely the army and the feudals....
u know the supposed enlightened head of pppp makdhoom afeem fahim has married off his sister to the quran.. these are the progressives ... what to talk of peer sahib pagara and his hurs along with the new wife.
whether they are khars of punjab or khars (farsi) of pakhtunkhwa... or the ganja turtle of muslim league fame
and now the youth is tainted image...

batli vala is just one of the profession which one hard working group took over to provide their masters and others with fine quality tharra and imported booze ... along with soda water vala they were a match in heaven. They were rewarded handsomely for their services, and were taught ENGLISH - in true image of their masters. Remember the babu ishtory of farangi_kush?

So should a failed pharmacy student, a hate monger, an angry man, otherwise also lovingly known to some, as All Tuff should take credit of goonda gurdee or not?
Yes, he should.
Should All Tuff take credit for Adamjee (a Memon), Dawood Engg. Co. (another Memon), Hakim Saeed (a decent urdu-speaker) and rest of the clean hardworking Mohajirs of Karachi before the advent of Biharis from east Pakistan.
The answer is NO, hell No.
However, All Tuff can take credit for the killing fields of Karachi, the peeshaab khana that Karachi is today, the paan-ke-pichkari, the terror camps of Korangi, the cell-phone snatching, the bhataa tax, and all the uncivilized behvior of a poor depressed kid from the shanty town of Jacob Lines.
And to top it all, this morally bankrupt person is considered as a Peer by some. What a strange society Karachi really is?

#514 most movies show punju culture not UP, because many movie producers are chopra, johar, sippy etc. UP is however very big in hindustani music originally, but the shoukeens (ie folks who would actually pay for it) are mostly in maharashrta and bangal. i think if you say UP is cultural mecca, that would be mostly agriculture..it does not get much respect. its considered a wasteland.. :(

I Was trying not to go there...Yes! we still wonder why kids have to sit outside when there is bathroom inside.
There were stories in Sindh that when Jaipuri first came to Hyderabad and moved in to nice Hindu homes via the allotment, they thought bathrooms were kitchens so they started putting kids outside and started cooking in bathrooms...then it caught on....
Okay.. okay! I am just kidding..

behram aasif: peace, peace, goodfellows (as the wise man of Gotham said). ;-) Lets face it, if you are poor, you tend to be dirty. Here is my adventure in Karachi - stopover at karachi airport, and two paan-chomping fellows started quarelling for the business of carrying my bag. While they were busy providing details to each other of their respective mothers, I took advantage of the situation and quickly dragged my bag upstairs by myself. On the way up, I reflected on ``There but for the Grace of God would I have been``. So, let us count our blessings that we dont have to eat paan and quarrel over the privilege of carrying some babu`s bags. Amen.
PS: and the hell with MQM sobs.

Asif
You cannot argue with someone seething with hate who has convinced himself that if it’s true for one, it’s true for all. With his method of argument, Behram has convinced this reader that he does not wash his hands after cleaning himself with toilet paper. I wonder if that’s true for him, it’s true for all.
Btw, what does “batli vala” mean? Mr Behram does not seem to like that term!

Jang,
My feeling is that UP is India`s cultural centre. See all the bollywood is just UP culture and imitation of the west.
In Karachi, some Upians are cultured and very impressive overall but once you hit the lower class, it seems that crassness just is part of the system. Speak excellent language with aap janab etc and very respectful in talking but once past that, things go down hill pretty fast.
#513 Posted by Behram1 on May 4, 2006 1:56:28 pm
{they should be potty trained and all that. } Have you seen a dirty looking urdu-speaking Mohajir, with kids having running nose. Go to Jacob Lines, the home of the All Tuff and you will see what training they get. I am talking about 2006. These mavaalis have no civilized behavior whatsoever. Then you can drive towards Lal Koti and see the dilution somewhat or go to Gora Cabrestan and see a marked difference. Aisha Bawani (a memon) is right around the corner.
Coming back from Jacob Lines towards Napier Barracks, you would see some civilty. Then of course, we have the Convents, and Parsee ground, almost no urination.
But, why do these urdu-speaking nihari khor junglee jaanwar pee on the Parsee Fire Temple`s wall. What have the Parsees done to hurt their feeling? Go to Pakistan Chowk, and you will see complete road in front of S.M College taken over by these thugs.
O! I forgot this must be the feudals` fault. What rubbish! The paan ki pichkari was unheard of until these behvior was brought from the despicable tolas coming from East pakistan after 1971.
Continuing the dialogue may get you some knowledge, my dear Aasif. I still expect an apology from your leader on the killing that took place in Karachi.

behram: paan ki pichkari and gutka and pan parag are more common in the non-urdu speaking mohajirs.. go ahead deny that... if anything go to hilcroft next time u come down from the hill country.. and find out the ethnic background of the ppl there..
rest assured paan ki pichkari is no better than hookah chilum or gandarian of ur favorite sugarcane.. or qaat in yemen

yaar HP i dont know why ..but kanpuris are not counted as bhayyas, at least in UP. bhayya is allahabad and east. kanpur-lucknow-agra are as crude, with some nawabi pretenses but lack the sweetness of the poorbia. in my view bhayyas are fun rangeela folks, not the evil types you guys seem to encounter.
jawahara is a bhayya. in bombay anyone who speaks urdu or hindi is a bhayya, but that is not correct. one thing for sure..bhayyas seem to always have big views on politics. my panwala bhayya in mumbai has a thela under a bulding which he built (he was the laborer). he always gives me a paan on the way to the airport and says ``aapki yatra sukhad rahe`` and shakes hands..and believe me, this is a big deal..a true panwala NEVER shakes his hands with anyone.
