#432 jang: i dont know what ``root cause`` you are thinking of. Like I said in my previous post to you, while we have some rotten eggs among the people who came over from india (i.e. the MQM types who spread ethnic hatreds in Pakistan), many muhajirs also have contributed positively to Pakistan.

Too late for this, since your true position on this issue has already been demonstrated by your demands for entry to Pakistan of the ``stranded biharis`` while ignoring the fact that hindus who were forced to flee in 1947 and so have a reasonable right to some form of acknowledgement of the injustice done to them which these ``stranded biharis`` who in fact came to Pakistan to improve their fortunes - many of them by taking over property of the departing hindus - do not.

This comment of yours really made me think and reconsider the hate-filled duel into which the anti-Mohajir group has forced us. You are so right about the legacy of tehzeeb inherent in our Hindustani traditions. While people in Punjab were busy slaughtering each other and worse, people in UP, Rajasthan, and other Urdu-speaking parts of Hindustan were trying to come to terms with the reality of this partition. There were very few incidents of violence and slaughter in those areas. Many Hindus were requesting their Muslim friends and neighbors NOT to go to Pakistan. The only danger these refugees faced was the wholesale slaughter of west-bound trains in Punjab.

We need to practice our inheritance of peace, diversity, civilized behavior, and tolerance. I appreciate your help and objectivity in setting the record straight. As you can see, Mr. Behram is busy painting very wide and encompassing swaths of half-truths and lies about Karachi. He has no concept of geography, history, or economics. You corrected him on his blatant lie about Altaf Bhai being Bihari. Not even acknowledging his mistake he is now charging fully into the realm of streets being washed, Burns Road, Golimar, Jacob Lines, and all other half-researched facts in a macabre salad of hate, lies, bigotry, and racism.
Does he realize that the Karachi of the 50s, 60, and 70s was also populated heavily by Mohajirs - most of them from the UP, CP, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Bihar Urdu-speaking heart of India? Does he realize that Karachi was merely a town of a few hundred thousand people in the `40s?

The huge influx of Mohajirs, the great building boom of the 50s, 60s, and 70s is what accounted for this phenomenal growth of the city to over ten million. Karachi is much more than the original Ratan Talao, Soldier Bazar, Garden West, Numaish, Bunder Road, Saddar, Clifton, and Bath Island sections. It is now Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, KDA, Gulshan, North Karachi, New Karachi, Hussain Da Silva, Defence, Liaquatabad, Latifabad, Kareemabad, Federal Area, PECHS, and all the other societies from Bangalore, to Lucknow, to Sindhi, to Delhi and others. Almost all of these were developed by Mohajirs.

To try to split Mohajirs into UP, CP, Bihari, Gujarati, Memon, and so on will not work. That was the whole point behind MQM. As we can all see, despite the constant suicide bombings perpetrated by Sunni fanatics from up north, there has hardly been any local Shia/Sunni violence among the Mohajirs of Karachi. I hope some of the real residents of our great city will come forward and correct this hate-monger who has probably misplaced his sugar-cane handled umbrella that he needs to protect from the hot sun, even in Texas.

Yes, the root cause was that All Tuff was just a third rate student, and was not allowed in the pharmacy school, and then the rest is history. Driving cab in Chicago did not help either. It was all because of those damn Parsees, Hindoos, and Christians who had English medium schools in Karachi. All Tuff and his gangsters could get a decent English medium education, so they have huge self-esteem problem. They have nowhere to take cover from their up bringing except for bringing goonda gurdee and dadageeri to otherwise many decent mohajirs of Karachi. If only I knew that All Tuff was going to be such a bad boy, I certainly could have used my influence and get him enrolled in an enlightened medium of education.

O! but they were depressed and would commit suicide because they had lost everything in East Pakistan. So bring down all of Karachi, because they have a right to bring everyone to the Lowest Common Denominator (LCD). And then they consider themselves smart as a fox.
