I suggest you printout on flyers your grievances you posted on this board verbatim, and flood Karachi with it. I’m sure it will catch the attention of “All Tuff” and his goondas, not to mention of the Federal Govt. currently run by a paan-chewing, pichkari-spitting bhayya. While on the topic of public urination, may I remind Behramji that we Muslims piss in mosques. So do the right wing Hindus, but they use the main building. Everywhere in the Muslim world, people use the wazoo facilities of mosques to relieve themselves without pissing off people like Behramji. In Turkey, there are so many mosques that there is no need to search for McDonald restaurants and their normally clean facilities. Can Mohajirs help it if downtown Karachi has always lacked a sufficient number of mosques?

Also, I do want to object to high buildings that attract large birds of prey. Apparently, a Belgian tourist was savagely attacked prematurely while getting a real suntan on top of a high-rise hotel in Karachi (or maybe it was Mumbai).

in india a parsee has a nice social net thanks to the parsee trust fund fed by our tatas and wadias. you can get stuff like nice homes in parsee colony or education assistance etc. do you have that in pakistan? if yes, as a pure zartrusti, do you get to dip in that? maybe if you had that you wont feel so lost. and if you feel lost inspite of that that is tough thing, and i feel really bad for you.

The interactions here are simply proving Pakistan`s military and Muslim Caliphs` / Sultans` / rulers` of the yore philosophy correct, i.e. keep commoners involved in wars against Christians (crusades), Hindus (Kashmir) and infidels (Afghanistan) so that they don`t turn against each other.

mr blackwheel, i have lived in UP and among UPites almost all my life, and kasam se, i love the place and its people. they are so real. i am just telling what rest of the country thinks of it. i loved saharanpur, agra, ranikhet, kasauli, rishikesh, gonbindghat, bithoor, orai, unnau, lucknow, cawnpore kotwali, even moolganj-kanpur ;-)

i have had the pleasure and fortune of attending daroga-ki-nautanki, and listened to nauch-girls singing ``sayad mere sadi ka khayal`` as well as young shubha mudgal sing the most beautiful kajris there. UP (and bihar) absolutely rock. i have seen with my own eyes Sita Mayee adjust the stuffing in his bra while smoking bidis during Ramleela and sat thru some serious all-night bhajan sessions after some shiv-shambhu prashad.

so, no, i will never think low of UP

There were educated ppl in what is now pakistan before partition but they belonged to 2 categories. Those educated in missionary schools and those who knew urdu as a second language. As they say lahore had a sizeable population who spoke urdu along with punjabi. The overwhelming majority as it was as it is now was uneducated. The percentage of illiteracy far higher than those of the immigrant who had a sizeable middle class and descendent of the erstwhile salariat. It is no wonder that urdu became the national language of pakistan....

It seems that as usual the urdu-speaker`s huffing and puffing in your post is rather obvious. I would invite you to the era of 1970`s, and around Burns Road, where almost all colleges were primarily filled with urdu-speakers.

Let us take a snap shot of S.M. College, and D.J College, and of course N.E.D. Engg. College. Almost all students entering those colleges were urdu-speakers. Yet, they joined hands with Jamaat-e-Islami in sloganeering ``merit merit, we want merit.`` This was the beginning of hate almost universally instilled by the JI gangsters, and the urdu-speakers got involved in such acts.

Ok...let us go and check all the government offices and you will notice urdu-speaking bureaucrats. No one in the world with any knowledge of economy would claim that bureaucrats are good for business. So how can urdu-spaekers claim that Karachi was developed by them?

Now, if the urdu-speaking community want to take credit (like they always do) of events that they did not generate then so be it. Right up to the mid-1970`s all the businesses in Karachi was conducted either by Bohras, Memons, Ismailis, or immigrants of Rann of Kach, and some were from Sialkot and Chinoat. And even till this day, most of them do not support the thugs of the All Tuff and his goonda brigade.

Not much can be said about the jealousy that urdu-speaking paan kay pichkari waaley mohajirs, as far as developing Karachi. Yes, I did find a lot of them as Qasais or maximum some Nihari shop.

I consider the Hadees I had quoted in my post at 403 as the most important one in all the plethora of Islamic literature spread over the centuries. It is terrorising the daily lives of the people by providing the bloodthirsty holy killers with a sword of blasphemy law and lynching, which is being kept ever hanging on their heads. Excuse me; I would go on repeating it ad-nauseam till it is stopped to be used as such. This Hadees in my view is itself blasphemic as it negates the very image of the Prophet (PBUH) as ‘Rehmatuaalimin’ and tarnishes the very name of Islam per se.

Slowly but surely those who come to the west will have some appreciation of how to live in a civilized society.
