Dear Pervez,
When a man qualifies to be a doctor, he practises as a doctor;when a man qualifies to become a lawyer, he will practise as a lawyer;when a man qualifies as an engineer he works as an engineer. Picture clear. However when a man says he wants to become a scientist, what does he get to do in PAKISTAN? Picture not clear. Much work needs to be done on this picture. Ask a layman
a number of his children are studying to be doctors. Yes much of a laymans`` gdp`` percent is spent on his childrens` ambitious education. What about science? it does not form part of the laymans, wilful, choice, picture.

Hoodbhoy ``Let us face the fact squarely: pre-modern societies, or those which dispute the very basis of science, simply cannot produce meaningful science``

I wonder why it has taken more than 30 years for Prof. Hoodbhoy to recognize this seemingly simple fact.

Since pictures speak a thousand words, here is one:
US security man with a sniffer dog at Rajghat (Gandhi`s memorial site) before Bush`s visit:

Even MMS was frisked by US security.

[Sucking up to the MNC will get India nowhere. India will not get anything close to what they are hoping to get on this Bush visit.]

Yup, India doesn`t need to suck up to MNCs, the MNCs are sucking up to India.

The world makes a beeline to growing India

Excerpts:

``Americans, Europeans, Koreans, Japanese and even Chinese are making a beeline towards India either to buy stakes in local firms or to raise capital through its booming stock market to fund expansion.``

``Several global firms at the Reuters Global Technology, Media and Telecoms Summit, held simultaneously in Hong Kong, Paris and New York, said they were keen to take a slice of the $700 billion economy, forecast to grow at a sizzling 8.1 per cent this fiscal year.

``India is very exciting. IT developments are a national pride. I think that we are doing extremely well (there), but a consolidation would help us. We are talking to several Indian companies,`` Paul Hermelien, chief executive at Capgemini, said in Paris.``

``Ports-to-telecoms powerhouse Hutchison Whampoa Ltd plans to list its Indian mobile services operations this year to fund expansion in the world`s fastest growing wireless market.``

dear ed sir -- you have a point there sir but sir you would be better off addressing it to dawn`s editor -- he unfortunately doesn`t come to chowk -- but i believe the proper channel is via the editor, just like i addressed the chowk editor here regarding pervez hoodbhoy`s article -- whose reply to the HEJ rejoined was btw printed in today`s Dawn

abey rsridhar chutiyae -- teri aankhein hain yaa naheen -- who kept the crowds away from bush and co -- and take a look at the pictures showing the security arrangements for mr bush in delhi -- they shouldn`t too hard to google, even for a retard like you -- lagta teri paida honay say pehlay he gaand maree hui thee -- u must be an NRI to think that the pakistani press is more applaudatory of its govt than the indian press is of its

(yes i know how the US president travels but the bulk of the security for him has been provided by the indian govt --)
``Lagta hai Mushy ney tum journalist logon kee itney buree tarah g@and marlee hai ki tum logon ka ab dimagh kaam nahin karta.``
US Secret Service is involved in President`s security. Much of the security to the President is provided by US Security Service. Local agencies of the host nations are not involved as nobody is trusted.
When he goes abroad, the whole security apparatus as well as White House moves with him. In Delhi, much of Maurya Sheraton hotel was converted into a mini-White House.
http://in.rediff.com/news/2006/mar/01bush3.htm
(White House shifts to South Asia
When the president of the United States travels abroad, a mini White House travels with him. Part of the staff accompanying him stay on in Air Force One, his official aircraft, and part of them stay in the same hotel as he does.
Their job is to ensure his security, in coordination with the intelligence and security agencies of the host country, to keep him posted continuously with important developments all over the world and to enable him to remain in continuous contact with members of his Cabinet not traveling with him and the chiefs of his intelligence agencies and armed forces.

The risk to Bush would be graded as extremely high if he decides to go to Afghanistan, very high in Pakistan and high in India.

Since his visit to this region is open and not a secret as it was to Baghdad, providing him with effective physical security would call for the best in human and technical resources the intelligence and security agencies of the US, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan are capable of, and would involve effective coordination among them.)

That`s the sound you make when the Americans insert their baseball bats in you in your own country.

It is a shock to find out that prominent papers like dawn would carry articles from demonstrably substandard writers and thinkers like this Ghori idiot and Qureishi.

But then, that`s pakiland for you. Dumb, clueless and ugly Pakis everywhere. No wonder ``Paki`` is a derogatory term in the UK. Not ``Indian``, but ``Paki``.

:)

Why is it that Pakis on this site keep claiming that they are good looking and white when every time I turn on the TV to watch a cricket match in Pakiland they are all what the British would call ``darkies`` excepting for a few lighter colored ones like a few from the Afridi tribal people etc. But they all look ugly and stupid.

No wonder any ``growth`` in Paki economy depends on foreign aid that they get by selling their behinds to Saudi Arabia and America. It is indeed sad to see Pakis treated like dogs in Saudi Arabia and America in spite of having changed their names to bedouin names, as well as naming their children after dumb uncivilized bedouins.

Re: # 364

I know the Picnic Bakery. There was also the Metro Cafe. My wife used to work for the Business and Political Observer and they had a small office close by. So we used to go to all the Irani joints over there , and there was a beautiful Kabab place opposite the JJ school of architecture , and the New and Second hand book stall , Cafe Mocambo on PM Road .....
So many memories. Plus since I lived in Ville Parle I used to play football every weekend on Juhu Beach. With all the Lobos, Braganza`s, D`souzas Pereiras.....
Yazdani Bakery used to have very good bread and ginger biscuits. When we go back my family still go there for a bun maska and chai.

I`m looking forward to my visit again.
Yes George Fernandes turned from his seminary studies to become a Marxist, and then onwards....See a priest wannabe to Defence Minister.

{Although Armenian women, for example, are ``whiter`` and much better looking than Persian women. } To you maybe because you are cross eyed and you have a crooked nose.

{Gives me the creeps. } Of course, they would because they are able to chop off your b@lls and anything attached to it, which is your brains.
