#342 ZahraJ {``Meethi Churi - Was there any ethnic slur?``}
ZahraJ,
Kind lady - you are really dating yourself. Mohajirs moved on from ``churees`` to AK-47s some 20 years ago - and there is nothing ``meethi`` about these guns.

Zahra,
Timing is everything...after the writer had made derogatory jokes at the expense of Pakistani women (is it a crime to not like the shalwar suit? no, and a normal person would not prescribe that Pakistani women who do not like the shalwar suit should walk around without their pajamas and bend over as many times as possible. etc.) and saw examples of humor not predicated on the humiliation of Pakistani women, he tries to cover his own posterior with the comment, ``oh but in real life, I make fun of myself``.
I am not buying it. This is more of his stupid game.
And shame on the editor for not seeing this.

Samina -
I agree with your take on ``fear and insecurity`` being the key components of this guy`s chowk identity. On the other hand, I do want to acknowledge his confession that he is a victim of his own jokes in life.

You don`t get it do you? He is smarter and more talented than you even if he can be offensive sometimes. He has knack for making people laugh. That piece of garbage you wrote in UP is boring and lame. Lot of people think so.

Chuhan,
Sorry...but this piece was as hackeney, recycled and predictable as almost everything that comes from you. Its pretty obvious that you tried to answer Paracha`s genre...and you could not succeed. Why is that?
Your piece was ultimately based on hate and lazy thinking. This was as knee jerk a response to the issues of cultural dissonance, ideology, and modernity as a nani amma who is terrified of what these realities mean. At one point, you probably realized that satirizing these issues might put you closer to Paracha than you had any comfort for, so you bailed out and sunk into the lowest common denominator: stereotypes, prejudices and biases. Your work is fueled by fear and insecurity.
Any writer worth her stock will tell you that actual good writing means facing oneself...

Salim,
I hope this weekend finds you in good health. I also hope that you enjoy your sense of humor whatever is left to be enjoyed. It`s a great quality to be able to make people laugh. It`s just that you cannot expect everyone to laugh with you on your jokes. You need to have the patience to accept that. As I said earlier, you need to have critics to keep you sane. I am sure you realize the value now.
I hope you did not take things to your heart. The intent was not to teach you a lesson or make hurting remarks. It is very easy to do that. The real intent was to show you a picture and the direction it can take. I really did not like doing that. I had to do that for your own benefit. I am hope you have gained some wisdom from this experience.
Take Care.

Salim is really giving a firm e-slap to ZahraJ who is stuck on same old boring line about Kotex. It is so pitiful to watch.

[Kaka,
I thank you for noticing the horrible and tragic ill will that ZahraJ has exhibited for my unborn baby. All I can say is that Allah has always been kind and merciful to my family and me. He will protect my wife, my family, and especially my unborn child against all evil - including the not so nice lady with the malicious thoughts. I will not say vile things about her, because I don`t think she realizes what she is saying. May God forgive her and give her more common sense and compassion so that she ceases to be a menace to unborn children. May all her family members be safe and healthy - Ameen. ]
Uff, this was a masterpiece. I am sure Allah must be amused to read these views. This guy is not even sincere in his prayers to God. Again, playing games. By the way, I did not mean any ill to your future child. I was just showing you a mirror. You should learn this lesson for all times to come, to avoid condescending personal remarks that you like to bestow on others, under the umbrella of humor. I am amused to read your own sensitivity. And then you have issues about people`s lack of humor. Do, you see some kind of contradiction here? I hope your wife makes the appropriate decision. We will wish her well in all circumstances.

Meethi Churi - Was there any ethnic slur? Are you really serious? What happened to being a ``victim of your own jokes``? I thought you were the master of ethnic slurs on Chowk. I am surprised that you cannot take one :)

If ZahraJ finds this article so boring and not funny why does she have over 30 posts in it? Is she an idiot of the first order or just a bitter old lady?

#337, Manny mere bhai,
On the contrary, you have added even more humor to this article. The comeback about the guard item was both quick and funny. I laughed and laughed because of the image created by your witty rebuttal.
Thank you for sticking up for refugees. I think that if we are learning one thing on Chowk it is how individuals are becoming friends and the old alignments by religion, nationality, race, and snoring habits are rapidly dying.
The only thing you have trashed is trash itself. More power to you.

{``We just need to warn the women to be on their guard.`` }
Why does this advice to all women bring a very exotic vision to our minds? I can picture Mannyd, his sparkling blue uniform in various stages of undress, his loosened necktie pointing north and his pants down at his knees, as he lays on his back in sweet ecstasy, all the while mounted by a succession of Annie Oakleys, lining up to be on their guard.

#331 Salim Bhai: That was a very nice gesture towards a very vicious and stupid person. Your article covered some very serious topis in your own humorous style, just like Nasah mentions in his posts #291 and #292. I respect your mature point of view about religion and prayers and would have liked to see a serious discussion. I apologize to jang and you for my contribution to trashing an extremely well written and timely article.
My best friend in life is a `Mohajir` from India, whose family moved to Karachi after going through hell and high water of Hindu mobs and selling their assets at dime to a dollar to their Hindu business partners. I have listened to his mother give a blow by blow account of the misery. I see red flags when fat brats demean the refugees. Sorry for flying off the handle.
