I just want to comment on how people view men being gay..no offense meant..everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. But for me, being gay is not just how one conducts himself. Being gay is not being able to stand for what you believe in and dont have word of honor. When one doesn`t have the balls to resolve issues and evades them that is being gay.
Who cares about machismo if they beat women to prove their stronger gender.
Okay I`m not a feminist :-) These are just views not violent reactions.

Re: the artistic merits of Brokeback
My wife`s extremely gay hairdresser said, and I`ll try to give you the exact quote, ```Whats the big deal? Just a couple of cowboys mumbling throughout the movie.``

Absolutely! Why bother with other men when there are goats and camels?

On side note:-
Homosexuality, Heterosexuality, Bisexuality and Asexuality were/are/will be born as long as all living beings exist, from all families, classes, phyla, generae, sub classes. Learn to deal with them equally with out any biasedness regardless of class, gender, country, culture, religion, caste, creed....................

Dear writer
You attempted a good try to overcome your prejudice about homosexuality just by watching this particular movie. Surprise, surprise, surprise. Homosexuality, heterosexuality, bisexuality, Asexuality, are the terms being used for different sexual reflections of all living beings since the Universe came in to being. All these twigs of sexual expressions are as ancient as this Earth is! There is nothing hidden, upfront ,closet or closed about these various expressions. They were/are/will exist as long as this Universe exists. There is nothing new about them, nothing old about them. All these sexual forms are old classics and modern as well. Sexuality is purely your personal inner issue, why to advertise,if, you`re one or the other. If, you are in love , be it. No matter hetero, homo, etc, etc.
There is no rhymes or reseons for being what you`re. You`re what you`re. There is no stereotype image in expression of any form of sexuality. There is absolutely NO connection of your inner sexual expression with religion. When you are in love, it happens. You don`t choose to love someone, you don`t force yourself for such delicate emotions called LOVE. You don`t choose, you just feels intense feelings called love, be it attached or expressed via any form of sexuality. Even Asexuals, feel immense love with themselves. Let all expressions survive with out any biasedness, like live and let live. If, you are in love , just listen to your heart and feel and search it in the deepest layers of your soul, you`ll find the answer, who you`re? what you want?
Take care

Also, if you didnt know.... there is no such thing as ``being`` homosexual. It is just a bad habit acquired during childhood due to molestation by older cousins or neighbours or seniors at school. And then you just get into the habit. If you get these people married, the bad, bad habit goes away. Ask masadi. Ask mantolives.
Why it didnt go away in the ancient greeks despite marriage (or why it doesnt go away after marriage in the residents of NWFP-- possible descendents of ancient greeks), I dont know. Ask masadi. Ask mantolives.

But Islam does not like homosexuality and that is that !
And if after seeing this bad, bad film, you think differently about faggots then it (the film) is clearly the work of satan who has been successful in his agenda. Ask masadi... he will tell you.
Homosexuals are bad, nonmuslim people who convert to homosexuality to destroy islam.
Everyone knows that. Ask masadi. Even mantolives or dies.

I think Brokeback Mountain will be a great hit in NWFP, given the proclivities of the residents there. It should be released in Pakistan for the entertainment of the Taliban and other elements in NWFP. Maybe they may forget about fighting and killing people for a while.
