I am proud of u and many Indians here who defend Gandhiji, not that he needs any defense from scums like Manto.
Keep up the good work. I have to say one thing about Manto: his indoctrination must have been in a madrassa. How else can anybody explain such hatred for Gandhi, a noble soul who has not harmed anybody in his life.

The only reason why Manto miyan would have converted to sunni islam from the Ahmediya sect is that it makes eminent sense to do so in Pakistan. Ahmediya is a hunted creature in Pukistan. You have to declare your religion on the passport and an ahmediya in Pakistan has the same status that a jew had in Nazi Germany.
Having made the politically correct decision, Manto miyan is doing another politically popular theme viz Gandhi bashing. I think the guy will has good future in politics.

mantolives #548 That is fine, nothing wrong with that as long as you are delving in facts - but like I said, one can delve in facts related to personalities or in facts related to ideas and concepts (as the saying goes, small minds discuss personalities, big minds discuss ideas).

I just think your talents and vast knowledge of subcontinent politics and personalities would be better used if you used them as backdrop to discuss the concepts of nonviolence, rule of law, and so forth. But that is just my two cents worth.

Men die, but the ideas they promote (intentiontially or not) live on and influence other people and thus change history. Thus, ideas are important, personalities are important only to the extent they generate those ideas.

There is no technicality. I think I know what my faith is. It was never Ahmadiism- despite my love and affection for all Ahmadi Muslims. I am proud of the fact that my father is an Ahmadi Muslim and I am proud that he never forced me to be one... however this is a matter between God and me and he knows very well where I stand... and so far it is clear that Gandhi`s supporters are without conscience...

In that post you claimed that Ahmadi Islam was rigid and narrow-minded, now you say your family was liberal and broad-minded. If your dad could be a liberal despite being an Ahmadi, what was the reason for you to convert? You could remain an Ahmadi and still be liberal no? The fact that you converted belies a different cause, something that has to do with the external trappings. Were you ashamed of calling yourself an Ahmadi dear Yasser? I won`t be surprised if you did.

Coming to a `Hindu fundamentalist environ`, can you describe what it is like? My dad is an atheist who simply refuses to believe in a supernatural force (or God). I`m at best indifferent to it, so there.
