I am proud of u and many Indians here who defend Gandhiji, not that he needs any defense from scums like Manto.
Keep up the good work. I have to say one thing about Manto: his indoctrination must have been in a madrassa. How else can anybody explain such hatred for Gandhi, a noble soul who has not harmed anybody in his life.

The only reason why Manto miyan would have converted to sunni islam from the Ahmediya sect is that it makes eminent sense to do so in Pakistan. Ahmediya is a hunted creature in Pukistan. You have to declare your religion on the passport and an ahmediya in Pakistan has the same status that a jew had in Nazi Germany.
Having made the politically correct decision, Manto miyan is doing another politically popular theme viz Gandhi bashing. I think the guy will has good future in politics.

mantolives #548 That is fine, nothing wrong with that as long as you are delving in facts - but like I said, one can delve in facts related to personalities or in facts related to ideas and concepts (as the saying goes, small minds discuss personalities, big minds discuss ideas).
I just think your talents and vast knowledge of subcontinent politics and personalities would be better used if you used them as backdrop to discuss the concepts of nonviolence, rule of law, and so forth. But that is just my two cents worth.

Regardless - Gandhi should not be celebrated. He was the antithesis for all that he is credited for. It is simply a question of setting the record straight.
I will continue to raise the issue of Gandhi`s real face.

mantolives #512 Thanks for the feedback. you write ``Ofcourse the Myth of Gandhi has had a net positive impact``. So it seems we agree on this fundamental point of whether or not Gandhi (the myth or the man) has had a positive impact.
I would like to add, then, the following: the issue of myth vs man is a reflection of the broader issue of ideas vs personalities. Men die, but the ideas they promote (intentiontially or not) live on and influence other people and thus change history. Thus, ideas are important, personalities are important only to the extent they generate those ideas.

``unless you realized the rigidity and narrowness of Ahmadi Islam when you were an infant``
In my family a person is not forced to choose his or her religion as an infant. Are you
telling me infants can make conscious decisions about their faith at that age? ... Faith is a conscious decision... not a matter of inheritance.
The sickness of your upbringing in a fundamentalist Hindu household is now becoming increasingly apparent. No wonder you turned out as you did.

Harish,
There is no technicality. I think I know what my faith is. It was never Ahmadiism- despite my love and affection for all Ahmadi Muslims. I am proud of the fact that my father is an Ahmadi Muslim and I am proud that he never forced me to be one... however this is a matter between God and me and he knows very well where I stand... and so far it is clear that Gandhi`s supporters are without conscience...
Omar
You are absolutely on the dot about this low life as well as his brother from another mother i.e. Ramanujan.

yasser -- mr harish iyer is low life of the highest (?? or should it be `lowest`) order -- actually his hatred is directed against anything pakistani or against anyone who disagrees with him -- since you are both you get everything combined -- i have seen harish iyer`s letters published in the friday times and even in Dawn in the past -- of course then this low life had to address people in a more civil manner than this -- because he knew that if he went around addressing them as `abey chutiyae` he would be blacklisted forever as a letter writer -- by the same token he loves and respects those who agree with him --

[That kind of patriarchal religious oppression may exist in your closeminded Hindu fundamentalist environs... but my family does not work this way.]
In that post you claimed that Ahmadi Islam was rigid and narrow-minded, now you say your family was liberal and broad-minded. If your dad could be a liberal despite being an Ahmadi, what was the reason for you to convert? You could remain an Ahmadi and still be liberal no? The fact that you converted belies a different cause, something that has to do with the external trappings. Were you ashamed of calling yourself an Ahmadi dear Yasser? I won`t be surprised if you did.
Coming to a `Hindu fundamentalist environ`, can you describe what it is like? My dad is an atheist who simply refuses to believe in a supernatural force (or God). I`m at best indifferent to it, so there.

[Till that last post, where you left me no choice but to call your parents animals by abusing my parents, I had not attacked you personally... or your parents. I had merely asked you if you call your parents chutiya too since you have such a penchant for throwing this insult.]
Aww, stop playing the victim dear Yasser chutiye. You asked for it so you got it, now why are you whining like a crybaby? Since you`re trying to be clever, let me ask you this. Do you call your `parents` animals? I would assume so, going by the way you behave on Chowk.
[Now where in the following post did I say that I was ever an Ahmadi?]
Trying to get away on a technicality eh? This post of yours, coupled with the earlier one clearly prove that being born into an Ahmadi family, you were an Ahmadi (unless you realized the rigidity and narrowness of Ahmadi Islam when you were an infant) until you became a mercenary convert.

Oh wait... I see...
I see... so because your father is Hindu... you must be Hindu... Hence since my father is Ahmadi I should be Ahmadi?

Harish,
Till that last post, where you left me no choice but to call your parents animals by abusing my parents, I had not attacked you personally... or your parents. I had merely asked you if you call your parents chutiya too since you have such a penchant for throwing this insult.
Now where in the following post did I say that I was ever an Ahmadi?
``With all due respect... my father is an Ahmadi... so I can speak with some authority on the matter. I don`t see any real signs of `reformation` amongst the Ahmadis... for all practical purposes they are Hanafi Sunnis by faith who believe in fiqh of Abu Hanifa dogmatically. The only difference between them and the `mainstream` is that they have their own interpretation of the word `Khatim`. Infact I would go so far as to say, that sometimes their zeal is such that their women are not allowed to leave the house without a Burqah... other than the fact that my mother is a shiite... this is one of the many reasons I am not an Ahmadi... The Ahmadi-Islam is highly restrictive, dogmatic and puritan``
Thanks for proving that you are a disgusting liar... and absolute filth at that.

[So now you are abusing my parents?]
Abay Chutiye, when you can abuse my parents, why deny my right to do the same?
[Just goes to show what kind of animals would give birth to something as disgusting in all possible ways as you. It reflects very well on your parents... one can imagine what filth you belong to...]
Wow, such words reveal the kind of parents (if at all one can call them that) you have Yasser, I don`t need to add anymore to that. Thanks for confirming what I thought of your `parents`.
[So now you are quoting Hamzaad...]
Well, there are many who`ve accurately summed you up, atif2 and malik99 among others come to mind, but this one was right on the mark. Well, there`s nothing you can do other than the sheepish comment you just made.
[But Looks like You have FAILED as usual to produce the post where I supposedly declared that I was leaving Ahmadi faith (When I was never an Ahmadi to begin with) ... and now you must abuse me, my family ... my parents...]

Now that the post is here, will you admit that you were lying through your teeth (not that this is the first time)?

So Yasser has invited his fellow convert to save him from the a$$-kicking? Dear Rozaiba, if Yasser can obsess about Gandhi`s sleeping habits, surely I can obsess over his conversion. You can`t have it both ways, can you? In any case, you would have sounded more objective if you`d tried stopping Yasser whenever he goes overboard on just about everything, but I`ve never seen you asking him to chill then? So please keep your counsel to yourself, thank you very much.
