Strange sort of piece but riveting. The God is in the details...

Apparently, her parents are more civilized. And her brother is better brought up. He dusts the ceiling fans every Sunday morning. I don’t even notice.
LOL...dude I know just what you mean.

A gentle, understated narrative - the kind that lingers on long after you have finished reading. Just curious did the inspiration for Kalyani come from the bar dancer in Maximum City?

Thanks Burpinder / Sheela / Saharanpuri. Subroto - if you mean Suketu Mehta`s book, I havenot read it. It is actually a close friend who had an affair with a bar dancer. Her name was Kalyani. He actually wrestled with the idea of leaving his wife and kid for her. Funny thing was I knew and cared for all three of them. The other part I wanted to explore was whether all of us IT professionals are just Bar dancers with swipe cards...

``The other part I wanted to explore was whether all of us IT professionals are just Bar dancers with swipe cards...``
Yes I thought that was a good touch. Being a bar dancer myself it was easy to grasp.

ok ... i did not first bother to read this because of so much action on the other mid-east threads. But thank god i did not miss this piece ...
Ramesh, this was an excellent piece. Congrats.

Each one of the characters that you mentioned - it seems I know all of them.

Re: # 7
Thanks wiseguyin. In a sense, these characters do exist though the story is fictional. I did know some guys who were really territorial with their women. And the time when I used to do these rounds, the song used to be ``Le Gayi dil mera manchali, khali bhali...``. It was like an anthem for the group. Just to refresh any contemporary memories out there...May be you;-D
