Get real buddy. This is an ancient celebration of the seasons. It has nothing to do with this mohammed guy and his revelations.

Firstly thanks for the interact. I guess, you didn`t read the article completely. We aren`t taking about basant nor holi here, its about Navroz. Navroz is kinda different because it not only celebrates arrival of spring but also the arrival of astrological new year(read initial paras). This article was about historical importance, messages this occassion conveys and importance of this concept(not only day) in a life of any human. I have discussed it not only with a muslim perspective but with diversified outlook of various cultures. How Iranians or Zoroastrians also conceives it and why they give importance to symbols. To quote about Islam is very important to me as a Muslim, these historical facts increases the importance of Navroz.

I also wrote in my article,
``Now for my Muslim friends specially, I wanted to discuss its presence and importance in Islam.`` I wasn`t mad to write it because this section was primarily targeted to Muslims.

Navroz has so much exoteric meanings in it but still many sects of Islam don`t follow this wonderful tradition, maybe they don`t know the tradition. Thatz okay with me but atleast they can learn some of the messages because they are universal. This article is not written from mere observations but I have done indepth research over it. Sorry to say that it is very easy to criticize but its takes alot of mind to think.

This article was something more than so-called `islamic garb`, it was for everybody. I hope interact would be an awakening for you, if it is than I be very happy. Anyways I respect every interact but I am sorry I can`t agree with what everyone thinks.

the arabic people of arabia lacking agricultural economy got on with the lunar calendar, whereas all agrarian cultures had a solar calendar, or lunar calendars with solar adjustments.

Thank you for this very interesting article about Navroz. I am a European and I learned about Navroz - or Nowruz - in Iran and Afghanistan in 1972, where I arrived in the year 1350 and saw the new year 1351 celebration in Mashad. I had never heard of it before. It is a very nice tradition, and I suppose our Catholic Easter, which normally comes a little later, is timed to coincide more or less with the beginning of spring and nature`s new year Navroz. - I do not understand why anyone would criticize your article because it also looks at the Islamic perspective of Navroz. After all, Iran and Afghanistan are overwhelmingly Muslim, and the people in those countries have celebrated Navroz since long before they became Muslims - and it is good that they have continued to do so.

You might not have noticed it but there is a small tendency to purge and destroy all things that cannot be neatly fitted into a mythical Islamic mould.

I don`t know about when it falls on Islamic Calendar. I think there is no consensus on date according to the lunar/islamic calendar. Still I will try to find out the answer of your query.

Again I would say, Islam is so diverse but I agree to the point that most of the sects just go very literal. They are stuck in a world which existed 1400 years back. They aren`t liberal enough to use their minds to intepret Quran, they just read it. No offence to anyone!
