By creating Pakistan, Jinnah rendered muslims in India into an even smaller minority, defeating the very purpose of Pakistan in the first place.
Why was it created then?
This will become clear once u see what has become of Pakistan today.
It is an Islamic state ruled by a military dictator in which feudal system thrives. That is to say: Pakistan benefits some people who would want to hold on to previleges that existed pre-1947.
You guys ofcourse know all this but pretend that Pakistan was some kind of a special creation.
Today, it is like a sore thumb sticking out. It has become a nation of jehadis. Almost all terrorists caught the world over seem to have some link to Pakistan, latest being the London bombings.
(If you claim ownership of India because you are Hindu then you are denying rights to other Indians who may have chosen to change religions for various reasons. Hindus probably were the owners of India in year 1040, but that reality had changed in the ensuing thousand years. Hindus were not the sole owners of India in 1947.)
This is the kind of intellecutal bancrupcy that exists in Paki mindset today. Everything is viewed from a religous angle.
(The fear of Hindu majority was a concern for people who lived in the Hindu Majority areas.)
Muslims in India probably outnumber muslims in Pakistan, a testimony to the fact that the very purpose of Pakistan is defeated. There is then this creation of Bangladesh (which has also become a jehadi nation: surprise! surprise!) that sounded a death knell to the Two Nation Theory.
Besides, the muslims who were in minority in UP, MP are still in minority there. That problem was not solved by creation of Pakistan. Also, what have the muslims in Pak really accomplished. At least, Shias and Sunnis do not kill each other in India as they do regularly in Pakistan and Ahmediyas have equal rights (that is denied in Pakistan). Minorities in India (sikhs, parsees, christians, jains etc) have prospered. All except muslims who have been policital victims of partition.
Having said this, i would hasten to add that creation of Pakistan was a good thing (thouth not logical thing) for India. Pakistan has become a nation of jehadis, fritting away its energies in the wrong direction. Imagine if Pak were still a part of India. India would then have become a hotbed of jehad and would be seeing large scale hindu-muslim riots.
Indeed, creation of Pakistan was like cutting way a diseased appendix, knowing fully well that the appendix would one day become gangrenous. Today, the world knows that the appendix has become gangrenous. IT is time for the world community to put an end to this misery called Pakistan and heave a sigh of relief.

........ when most of them have enough troubles of their own ............ personally, it is very difficult for me to get excited about palestine ....... i have barely enough compassion and passion for one cause - kashmir - which by all accounts is not going too well either ......... now, as far as i can tell from watching tv, the palestinians are much better fed and clothed than the unwashed masses that sleep on the sidewalks of bombay and karachi and then get up to watch the sunrise as they squat on the railroad tracks ......... it sounds romantic, but they tell me that, once in a while, they get run over by train and it is not a pretty sight ..........

This is the last thing i`m going to say on this thread, so you know where i`m coming from on future discussion threads if at all i do post. look, as far as i`m concerned, the dirt has been coming from your camp, so lets not point fingers over here, its a two way street. I came here to put across a point of view on the topic being discussed, ie Farzana`s article, maybe those views are too generalised, maybe they are hardcore, i don`t know, but whatever they might be, they will never involve childish personal ridicule because 1. its a complete waste of time and 2. it takes away from the purpose of the discussion thread. And i feel, if people just ask whovever to keep the posts relevant to the topic of discussion things should be just fine, this cesspool could yet be turned into a clean little pond.

Thanks for this cut-and-paste. I am an atheist. But sochtaa hu.n mein agar dua maangtaa aaj apne khudaa sey mein kyaa mangtaa. May IMs never suffer such fate in India as Jews suffered. May be things will never be so bad in India hopefully. May be there will always be people who will be strong enough to stand up and say ``no``. Actually the fact that it did happen in Germany where voice of conscience remained mute is quite disturbing. What special qualification Indians have? What special ability to stand up is there in Indians? That is why large number of conscientious IMs should publicly speak against terrorist attacks.

Actually in the old Mandrake comics there was a character called Mad Dog Dill. Khalid_Ahmed, Behram etc seemed to be like that. Somebody had to gesture hypnotically to banish them it seems.
All intellectuals should read Tintin and Asterix. There is much to be learnt from it.

Otherwise you would be left with caricatures like Shylock, Othello ...

Zeena, You should not type any vowels, spaces, commas, stops, question marks etc in your interacts. We will just know that you do not wish to be understood.
