If you feel the need to point muslims to other people to emulate, then why not say that the muslims should acquire the three `R`s: reading, writing, and `rithmetic. It doesnt require a genius to see that the reason the jewish people have done so well is due to education. And doing so, they have contributed greatly to human civilization world-wide - in medicine, science, literature, out of which come the many comforts of everyday life that we all enjoy. All this is due to education , and not due to the two `P`s that you foolishly think to be the case. This is what poor sir syed was banging his head about against the duffer muslims of india.

Salim Bhaijan, since Muslims are not monolithic, the only thing that unites Ummah is their unflinching and unwavering anti-Semitism and hatred of the non-believers. This is in spite of the fact that as we debate here, Sudanese Muslims are raping and butchering fellow Muslims at an unprecedented rate, and no Muslim will talk about that. We have jokers here who blame everything on the US elite and Jews, but they wouldn’t even know where Darfur is because Sudanese lift their ass in the air 5 times a day as opposed to Jews who move side to side. Hitler might have been a Lutheran, but he acted in a true Muslim spirit, may Allah give him 72 virgins for every Jew that he killed. Wouldn’t that be funny? All Momans will be sucking each other’s dick if Hitler ran away with all the Hooris. Then they can rightfully hate Jews.

Two days ago, there was an interview in the LA Times of Dr. Wafa Sultan (I hope everyone@Chowk knows her by now) in which she said that Islam is beyond repair, riddled with teachings that exhort Muslims to kill non-Muslims, subjugate women, and disregard human rights; when she says ``I don`t believe you can reform Islam,`` and that the only reason the vast majority of the world`s Muslim population is peaceful is because they can`t read Arabic and don`t know what the Quran teaches, it made a lot of sense. I am beginning to have respect for the lady as she speaks as she sees it.

Maybe (MAY BE) FV can write something on Darfur one of these days.

From Mr. Tahmed32`s response below it is obvious that FV is succeeding in shaking the collective Muslim tree. Of course, Tahmed32 Sahib, of course, education is very important, just ask the Indians, the Japanese, and the Latvians. May I add to your excellent point by saying that oxygen is very important. You gotta breathe man. But education just gets you to the table, after that unity is what`s important. Education is a prerequisite, unity is the elective - and that`s where the Muslims are way behind everyone else. There is no unity in the people of the One God, One Prophet, One Book, and many wives. Heck, even the multiple wives of polygamous Muslims are more united than their masters.

As for Darfur, not even FV can expose the shame in the shameless, the heart in the heartless, and the zamir in the zamirless. What one set of dark Muslims is doing to another set of a shade darker Muslims is what Muslims prefer to see on page 27 of their favorite newspaper, the part that gets used when the TP runs out - or the lota springs a leak. :)

Zeemax… you said that Jews don’t hold grudge (your post 21).. Of course they do. Their philosophy is “forgive but never forget”. In NYC fed courts there are still over dozens of pending cases against numerous Swiss banks. Jews will never rest until they teach all the perpetrators a lesson – past, present, and future. More power to them. Whoopi Goldberg is a black comedian and a Jew. She might not hold a grudge against Germans, but most Jews do.

They do very well - among many other things - in international terrorism, opium farming and smuggling. Such people are well protected by the ummah leading Islamic Republic of Pakistan. They are doing great PR. The whole world knows about them!

If the best national heroes and role models are weapons smugglers with PhD, or terrorists in sanctuary, such a nation can have no hope at all. Musharraf believes that all that could be swept away under the carpet of good PR. He would be flattered to see some fan following here on chowk.

I am not seeing her in the tree - otherwise Tahmed32 would not have attacked her so vehemently. Yes, she is talking about how Jews have manipulated minds, perceptions, sympathy, even logic to their own advantage - I say what is wrong with that? Isn`t that what marketing, sales, and image are all about? Almost everything that the Jews do is portrayed and accepted in very positive terms - even what I would call negative things like settling in conquered territories. But almost everything that Muslims do is seen in negative terms - slaughter, violence, bombings. Heck, Muslims copied Jews in the slaughter of animals and one sees Muslims take the blame. The reason for all this is that Muslims, in reality, are quite stupid - yes, the educated ones are the more stupid ones. They don`t know anything about public opinion, public perception, they are simply so wound up in their blind worship of whatever the mullahs, jihadists, and wahabbists tell them. FV is asking them to become a little smarter by paying attention to P&P - maybe then they themselves will see the errors of their ways. Very imaginative and thoughtful approach, I must say.

How about saying it like it is - Jews are much more intelligent, rational and capable? Now that would be unislamic to admit, wouldn`t it? How about being honest to yourself and admitting that the 7th century AD ideology of hatred doesn`t make any sense and needs to be thrown out? Start there, and all the good things will follow. Good deeds need no PR.

salim, your fidelity towards ferzana is commendable but FV is not shaking any muslim tree. what she is saying is that the jews inspite of being criminals that they are (its in the title) are doing well due to the PR machine and all that the muslims need to do is improve the PR machine and things will be fine. standard ``jews are conniving banias`` bigotary editorial common among pakistani newspapers .. i am sure she can get this published to wide acclaim in pakistan..no one will feel shaken, they will all agree in unison.

I actually liked this article for a change. I don`t find it whiny (very uncharacteristic of the author), but a mix of profunditiy and simplicism.
Persecution complex is very real. Holocaust was not the beginning of it but perhaps the end. European christendom would not allow jews to own land & farm. They had to migrate to the new world before they could discover the simple relationship that humans have to the plant kingdom.
It would be very difficult for muslims as a whole to acquire a real persecution complex because they are a majority in many parts of the world and are in control. How are pakistanis ever going to have a persecution complex?
On the other hand, if this advice is to indian muslims, then perhaps it has some merit. But instead of demanding the impossible, you should have said indian muslims should take advantage of the opportunities that are available already and not read too much into bathroom tiles. That way lies the future methinks.

Judaism is among the world`s oldest religions. And jews are among the world`s most persecuted people. Still not once in their long history have we seen the likes of a suicide bomber or a mother who is proud that her 5-year-old boy will grow up to be a bomb belted terrorist.

If you see middle-eastern muslims and jews - with their skull caps, their foreskins, their eating habits and their head bobbing in front of a book, you wouldn`t be able to tell them apart at all.

So the real difference in the two must be what is in their respective books. One book preaches to hate and kill, and the other one to be perfect.

Violence and intolerance form the DNA of the front-page muslims, notwithstanding what the book says or is interpreted to say. No amount of PR can change this truth. The world hasn`t forgotten, and the internet makes sure the truth triumphs. Jihadis are not Hollywood conspiracies of the evil joos or hindoos.

For several centuries, civilized peoples didn`t have a clue about dealing with the menace and succumbed to the sword, pillage and rape. Muslims today mistake that shamelessness of their forefathers for their greatness. But what goes around has a natural way of coming around. The muslims are beginning to see and experience that. It cannot be pretty. Tough luck. Call it karma.
