when i went to get my MRP in ISB...i thought the process was very smooth and trouble free. We got our passports exactly on the mentioned date with no mistakes!!
I hope u get a chance to deal with INS and then u will forget counting days ....but that will be for getting a green card rather than a green passport.

``My frustration and anger knew no bounds then. I had even decided, standing there itself, that if I get the opportunity to leave the country even once I wouldn’t return, etc, and a number of other wild thoughts. ```

Proud Pakistani;
I can safely presume from your writing that you have never traveled abroad. The fact is that with the rampant document frauds by corrupt officials and human smmugglers for decades , the Pakistani Passport, ID`s, Driving Licence and any other documents have completely lost their credibility. So much so that at airports around the world carrying a Green of the Islamic Republic has become a curse and disgrace. Under the circumstances, the desire by genuine self respecting Pakistani travellers to carry a document which gives them a cretain minimum level of respect can be well understood.

It is heartening that NADRA is trying to implement some checks and balances and hence bring a little authenticity into the green. Please do not discourage their efforts. Its comforting to know that the rules and procedure are not easily circumvented at NADRA, even for someone who carries the mighty Press Card.

Proud Pakistani! rather than criticizing, try to get delight from the fact that after 60 years the nation has created a new public department which has ousted lot of rotten wood and attempting to put some sense into the nations immigarion, registration and statistical systems.

Sorry to hear your plight.
If that helps you, getting Passport in Indian used to be like till mid-nineties. Now you can get it easily.

Also, do you folks have that excuse, such as , we are out of Paper for Passports and come back after 6 months.

happens quite often..

You are lucky! That u got it in 25 days. My kids are waiting for over a month.

I too came across this dilemma in Pindi as my permanent address is Lahore. But I talked to the Assistant Director who ruled in my favour.

Coming to the Pakistani Passport. I feel its the worst document for entry back into Pakistan; the immigration officials, customs and agencies; my God they really intimidate and its a routine.

Its all about the lack of space that the government has created for the civil society. Its the same in all third world countries. Malaysian officials are far worse.

that sounds efficient..you did not need character certificate with signature and telephone number of a secretary lebvel govt employee or a police enquiry during which you had to give a diwali present to the the SHO?

all you had to do was sign declaring ahmedis to be non-muslims..pretty simple.
