Zero Tolerance -- Dealing with Naxalites

Simran -- you can be sure the government is headed to do everything to produce more Naxalites and Maoists making them multiply like rabbits --

one has to see the caste-ridden human degradation, deprivations and the extreme poverty in these particular areas to understand why the Naxalites......the government has no money to improve the lot of these people -- it has plenty to waste on maharaja`s white elephants -- the nuclear weapons....

The way the govt is dealing with naxalism is deplorable. They aren`t addressing the root causes at all. Apprently K.P.S Gill has been appointed advisor to help solve the naxal issue in Chattisgarh. He, who was responsible for some of the most flagrant human rights abuses in Punjab. A clear indication of where this govt is headed.

Until the govt`s policies are more pro-poor and dispossesed, risings be they violent or otherwise will continue. How long can you repress misery?

Their modus operandi is similar, they release list of people affiliated to different civil and democratic rights organisations and ask them to leave the organisation or face the consequences.

It would be naive to state that without the government’s official patronage all these things can happen.

How? The government can prevent Naxal-sympathaziers from being killed only as much as it can prevent Naxals from killing people.
